would it be a good idea to start memorizing bugle notes now to get a jump on the knowledge?
I would say learn them there with everyone else.
I am very curious why you are of this opinion.
It is just the way I feel about the way Beast is supposed to work and the benefits you get by going through it the "normal" way. Beast throws a million things at you for a reason and you are supposed to learn to deal with the shock and adapt once you're there. By learning the knowledge beforehand, you are removing an element to Beast, an element that isn't there for no reason. While a lot of the actual knowledge is there for tradition, the process of having to learn it there is for a reason. Developing the ability to memorize bits and pieces of information while going through stressful situations and being able to recall it in a moments notice certainly benefited me in the academic year and is sure to benefit me throughout life.
In all the suggestions admissions sent (ie keep in shape, learn about the honor code, etc) learning knowledge wasn't one of them. If they really thought it was a good idea, I am sure they would have sent something regarding it as all it would take is a link sent via email or on the candidate portal.
In short: it develops a valuable skill and adds to the bonding experience. Feel free to PM me if you want a more detailed answer as I will be glad to answer.
Remember, it is my personal opinion and what everyone does is ultimately up to them.
