C/O 2019 Mailbox Stalkers

just posted this on the Don't Panic thread and thought I would share it here also. Read this today and it is something that fits all of us current "Mailbox Stalkers" keep this close to heart and I know I will have to remind myself to do just that....
"STAY POSITIVE...the things your're waiting and hoping for, tend to arrive at the most unexpected moments"

DS finally stopped stalking when he got an offer from the Coast Guard Academy. Now he just keeps his fingers crossed. :D

Sign the AFA to free up the position for someone who made the commitment to attend The Naval Academy over ten years ago. I chose the NA to fly and design planes. The Navy has more jets and the AF is taking pilots and turning them into drone fliers. This gives a new meaning to the term "Chair Pilot."

If you waited 132 days for the AFA, there must be a reason.

Easy there, he's gone through the process and earned both appointments. That certainly gives him the right to decide how the next 9 years of his life will pan out. If he waits until the deadline to decide, so be it. Certainly don't try to sway someone else for your own perceived benefit.

I can't help but think a year of college would be good for DS/DD! Those that go in might wonder "what if I'd gone to college?" Those who go to college then get in have a bigger view of things.
Honestly, it is probably the best case scenario so one could experience it all & feel confident. Here's to hoping the best for yall!

I second this. The candidate is not left wondering what he missed out on, and gets chest deep in some college/university level work. Don't give up yet though!

I normally wouldn't stick my nose into the Navy forum except to moderate, however I do need to ask where you got this erroneous information. PM me if you don't want to tie up this thread.

My DD heard the same thing last year (I'll PM you from where.) A year at USAFA corrected that misperception!

So, still have snow here in MA. I went out to check the mail and the wind blew our mailbox wide open. Mail was everywhere. Started picking it all up, phone call during all this distracted me as I picked up our DD's BFE from the snow! She received an appointment to NAPS and is incredibly grateful to be considered-what an honor! Her plan B was a great one-staying here in MA and going to Maritime. I thank all of you for responding to our questions and for your support. As has been said before many times, a solid plan B is important. My DD was already securing letters from teachers for the 2020 application and our deposit had already been sent. She did not achieve this by herself and much is owed to our BGO who guided her and gave her great advice. Best of luck to all of you still watching for the mail. God bless.

Congrats ElNavy,
Did you know your DD was offered NAPS and were just waiting for BFE or was that your first notification?

So, she's still waiting on KP (has nomination) and did not get a nomination to USNA so she knew she was not receiving a direct appointment (we are not a military family) so no VP or P appointments. She was praying for NAPS and it has certainly made her very happy.

We are CA-18 San Jose... and yes I want it to rain appointments!
DS has nom to USNA and no nom to USAFA so he's hoping for a chance at Prep there if no USNA appointment comes through.
