    Hello,

I am anxiously waiting on word from USMA admissions. My question is if it would be appropriate to contact them and ask if they have received word yet? Just want to know if I'm on the NWL or what the deal is. I am supposed to go on CULP and possibly another skills school this summer with ROTC that would start in early May. Thanks.

I know it can be hard but you should be patient. You should wait. The next six weeks or so should see the bulk of the notifications.

    Ask yourself these questions.

    (1) Have you received notification from the academy that you are qualified academically, physically, and medically (3 Q'ed)?
    (2) Do you have a nomination from a Member of Congress?
    (3) If (2) is yes, then are you the principle nominee?

If the answers are (1) Yes (2) Yes and (3) No, then you are on the NWL. The level of uncertainty is where are you on the NWL. Can you find out where you are on the NWL? Probably not. Typically a regional commander (RC) can give you a general idea of what your chances are, but that is just based on past experience on how candidates with your similar statistics have fared. So, if you just wait six more weeks, the situation will become much clearer.

I doubt your MOC would know anything. Its not even close to May yet, hang tight. Bet you hear in the next 2-6 weeks.

How is an applicant notified if they are 3Q'd? Portal states DS is medically qualified, but don't see where it indicates the other 2.

Candidates get a pdf document in their portal that states your file has been reviewed and you have been qualified academically (which usually means your ACT/SATs were above minimums and your GPA and class rank is sufficient) and physically (which means you passed the CFA). If you only just recently completed your file, then you may not receive this notification because of the workload of the admissions committee and the only way you will know if you were ever on the NWL is a BFE or a TWE. Now if the answer to questions (2) and (3) is yes, then all you should be waiting for is a 3Q and if you are 3Q'd then you should receive an appointment.

File was recently completed (within the last month) with the 7th semester transcript plus an eval that was pending from P.E. teacher. Based on your reply, I'm guessing DS won't receive notification until it's either the TWE (boo!) or the BFE (yay!). DS is a presidential and MOC nominee. He was recently awarded a 4-yr ROTC scholarship to UNG, but he is still holding out hope for USMA! Thanks for the insight!!

I recommend you accept the 4 year ROTC to UNG. If a USMA appointment comes through, then the ROTC offer can be returned.

Yes, that's the plan at this point, and housing deposit has already been paid. Still praying for USMA to come through.
