Can NAPS offer be updated

Im not trying to sound ungrateful, I was literally just asking a question. Im not really seeing your point about the STEM grades correlating with SAT, because just like the other vets on here have said, grades aren't much because every teacher is different. Whats odd for me is Ive taken the hardest English courses in my school and Aced all of them, yet my English SAT is sub par. Its basically the inverse of what you're saying. Respectfully.
I would not spend any more time thinking about it. You will never know the analysis that went into the current status, what factors were considered, how they were weighted.

That part of your schooling is just about in your rearview mirror now, as is the principal nom and everything else in your resume. If something magical happens, great. But you have a tangible place to steer toward right now.

Your only tasks now are to finish this year strong, stay physically fit, get ready for next steps, be present for family and friends right now, because starting this summer, you will only come home for brief visits for at least the next 10 years.

Have some fun reading the link below. It will be updated soon for next naps class.

I don’t think you came off as ungrateful and truly think everyone should be able to ask whatever they want here! I think usnabgo was just trying to point out the discrepancy between the As in English and the 590 verbal - I think the consensus is that USNA gets a little nervy when that’s off (high SAT / low grade or vice versa) so the NAPS / foundation can provide them with assurance of academic readiness. My DS has the exact same issue with math grade vs math SAT score. His English / Lib Arts grades match perfectly with his verbal SAT, but not math. I think usnabgo was pointing out that the additional stuff you submitted doesn’t address the English A / SAT Verbal 590 discrepancy. But I always think it doesn’t hurt to submit everything you’ve got - at the end of the day, who know what goes on behind the curtain in the land of Oz!

Either way - USNA 2028 or USNA 2029 via NAPS - I’m very happy for you!!

Oh whoops, I think usnabgo was referring to the C in chem vs the math SAT - what I noticed was the A in English vs the 590 in verbal but either way I think it’s the same issue that can trigger concern with SAT / GPA discrepancies. Good luck!

One thing USNA considers carefully is the ability of a candidate to succeed academically at USNA. Sometimes it's more about the school than the student. I know someone recently who knocked it out of the park in h.s. academics (much better than OP's). Incredible sports and leadership. However, the h.s. the person attended is terrible from an academic standpoint. It's in a remote area and just doesn't draw the teachers or students that you find many places in this country. Fewer than 10% of students attend college. Thus, while this person did their best with the hand they were dealt, USNA was concerned that that the student might need some help to succeed at USNA. This person was offered Foundation. Took it and graduated from USNA a few years ago in the top third of the class.

There are lots of threads (one recent) about disappointment "high achievers" face about not receiving a direct appointment. I can only say that you would be much more disappointed to be booted from USNA for academics or to do so poorly that your opportunities at USNA are limited or your service selection options are restricted.

As an aside, my guess is that the fact you are a principal nominee is a big reason you were offered NAPS (vs. a turndown). Obviously, your MOC sees a lot in you and so does USNA. Everyone wants you to succeed. This is what USNA thinks is needed for that to happen.

Ive been offered NAPS after being told in right on the line of going direct and getting a prep offer. Im sending in a few extras like an updated resume with some fluff about leadership positions as well as updating the academy that ive been invited to National Honor society and that Im now in the top 25% in my class.

Is there any possibility that my offer can be updated to a direct offer? Im a principal Nominee if that helps with anything.
You have what I feel would have been the best option for my DS. If you want “it” put your head down and go get it. If you don’t want it, then it’s your earned opportunity to discard. Either way as yoda would say…”do or do not, there is no try”

Congratulations on the pnom! That is quite an accomplishment.

While we were at a CVW last fall, they said that they really want to see applicants in the top 20% of their class. If you're just now hitting the top 25%, perhaps that factor was preventing you from being 3Q'd? Either way, my son would take NAPS in a heartbeat. In some ways, I'd almost prefer it because they have such a good reputation for preparing the students for Academy life.

Whether your status changes or not, be proud of your accomplishments!
