For the essays on the application, the site says "250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max." I wrote an essay that is 500 words, yet only 2500 characters. Will this be okay?

Easy answer: Follow the directions exactly as they say. I'll give you a hint, that is not ok.

So, even though it is under the character limit, the word limit takes precedent? It's like there are two limits. I'm confused

Follow the word limit and the character limit. Do not exceed either.

Do you think the admissions boards will be upset since I used two examples for my ethical dilemma response? I am within the character and word count, but had to use two examples because one individual example did not have enough bulk to meet the 400-500 word limit.

Does it really matter as long as it is under 3000 characters? My essays were over 500 words but under 3000 characters.

As hornet said. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! This is the military. There are 2 basic concepts in the military, whether you're an officer or enlisted. 1) Team work is everything and 2) Attention to detail. That is the basic premise of a successful military.

Will they automatically throw your application in the garbage for being over the limit? No. Will they be LESS THAN IMPRESSED. DEFINITELY!!! Why, pray tell. Simple answer. 1) They have literally THOUSANDS of essays they need to read. 2) DO YOU PAY ATTENTION. Did the instructions say 250-300 words ORRRRRR 3000 words? No, it didn't. So why the standard. It means you can't simply type away, baffle with B.S., and be sloppy. It means you paid attention; went over the essay a number of times to ensure you got the message across, while still following instructions. If you've never heard of the ABC's of writing; it stands for ACCURACY, BREVITY, and CLARITY. (I admit that on the forums, I am sometimes NOT BRIEF). But in my own way, I believe I am, so I don't have to write ANOTHER POST explaining myself for the reader. Anyway; follow the instructions.
