Initially, I was gung ho for the Marines. Hence, USNA was my choice for a very long time. I was the opposite of AKH. I applied to USMA to shut my parents up. After going on an overnight visit, however, I began to feel conflicted about my choice.
The Army had more MOSs, was more likely to let you change your MOS if you didn't like it and had MOSs that seemed to be more marketable for the civilian world after my military career. The Army also seemed to be a lot more willing to let females go outside the wire, so to speak. Plus, West Point offered more majors.
In short, the visit (and a lot of prayer) made me realize that West Point and the Army offered me more choices, which I consider important when talking about my future. Now, though still open to the USNA route, I am heavily leaning towards West Point.
