I plan on majoring in Political Science or History at a SA or civilian college (Penn State, Drexel, UPenn) I not very fond of the math, science or engineering fields. I want to know what type of career in the Army or Navy would be suitable for me.

IF you goto law school you could be a JAG (lawyer). Otherwise, there aren't that many non technical jobs. If you goto a service academy, your career isn't majorly based on your major.:thumb:

Well, outside of being a military scientist or engineer and a relatively few others (like Nuke engineer in the Navy), I would have to say ALL OF THEM. When you finally do get out into the field on active duty, you'll find that most of your peers chose from a VAST spectrum of majors and backgrounds while in college. So I would recommend: "choose what is best for you"

A caveat: all the services push heavily for technical majors for those trying to get into the Academies and ROTC on scholarship. Non-tech majors face a much bigger challenge competing for those fewer slots. Just letting you know that you'll have to face it.

More importantly: once you do get into college (or an SA), the first and foremost thing they rank you on is your grades! Don't fall into the trap of choosing something for THEM because THEY want it, only to hate your college classes and do poorly. You'll just end up a statistic of those "asked" to leave (either the SA or the ROTC det) becuase your grades weren't good enough.

Unless YOU want to be a math instructor, engineer, scientist, or Nuke engineer, choose what best fits YOU. Most of the other officers you will serve with did the same...
