DS is waiting until football is over to do his CFA. Just thinks he will do better when he isn't recovering from all of the bumps and bruises of the weekend. It could be another month depending on how they do in playoffs. Maybe it was specific to USAFA, but I thought someone said they had a 11/1 deadline for their CFA for USAFA.

For USMA, I am assuming the deadline for the CFA is the deadline for the application - 1/31/22. Is that correct? (not going to wait that long, but just wanted to confirm that is the date). I did not see anything to the contrary anywhere.

It may be good to get one on the books sooner rather than later. You can always update after the season, but don't want to risk any injuries in football season that force you into a rough or impossible deadline.

I believe you are correct that the deadline for USMA is January 31, however I would take it as soon as your son feels confident in his scoring. As stated above, a football injury could negatively impact his ability to take and submit the CFA Also, you will need to record the pull-ups and pushups and submit for review.

DS waited until late December to submit his CFA. (I was having a cow over this by the way) The first time, the video did not show his feet on the pull-ups so he had to redo the test a few days later. Fortunately, the score he submitted after the redo, and the video were acceptable. Note some people have to redo a video after submitting the test due to incorrect form, etc. so it is important to leave time for review and a redo of the test.

This is only 10% of the application, so not a huge deal, but sometimes waiting can be detrimental.

Waiting to take CFA lays out the red carpet for Murphy’s Law: illness, injury, family emergency, sudden unavailability of test administrator or videographer, inclement weather, unplanned closure of the venue, etc. It happens.

People who know they want to apply in the year leading up to their application year can easily research and train up for the CFA well in advance, start thinking about the associated logistics, apply when their cycle opens, and get on with it, get the CFA knocked out as soon as their candidate file is blessed. Murphy lies patiently in wait for others.

Totally agree and wish he had done it before season began. Will definitely get him to do it as soon as he feels fit. I just was freaking out when I saw that 11/1 date and thought, "oh man... he blew his whole application with that being only thing left to do."

Agree 100% with Capt MJ. My DD friend has just had a football injury that will prevent completion of the CFA. Could have taken the CFA the day before injury but waited for a few more pull-ups and now in a big pickle. Just get it on the books!!!
