My daughter (class of 2028) tells me that they all have to redo the CFA on R-Day. I hadn't seen anything about that in the information on here or online. Is that correct? Honestly, just curious. She is not a recruited athlete, so I think it makes us more nervous than most people.

I’ve never heard of that and last year my class did not do any type of physical test on R-day. Do you know where she heard that? It seems unlikely especially since R-day has such a packed schedule.

I don’t know about redoing the entire CFA but if I remember correctly in the Business Insider videos, don’t you get tested - at the very least - for pull-ups on R-day?

No idea where she heard that. I saw the videos with pull-ups and she's good there. Maybe that's where it started. I was thinking it would be crazy if they did the CFA over again. I'll assume it's just a rumor. Thanks for the help!

That's not true. She will never do the CFA again. She will be asked to do pull ups on R-Day--she should not worried that she will be sent home if she cannot do any, it is ok. She will be asked to complete the Army Combat Fitness Test during CBT--but she will be taught some of the specialty events before she is set out to complete them.

If she is nervous...she should put that energy into practicing the 2 mile run, planks, and push ups. That will really help her get ready for a transformational summer. It will be challenging but she will make great memories. Remind her please that everyone is nervous but they picked her, so they want her to succeed. (Also, tell her it is ok to spend every night the first couple of weeks staring at the ceiling in the dark with silent tears regretting all of her life's choices...it is part of the process and it all gets better in the second part of Beast when they go to the field and then during the academic year when everyone is too busy to pick on the plebes.)

Also, @TXMomof3 if you are not on the West Point Moms page, please join us...also there is a sub-group of Proud Moms of Female Cadets. You can find your people there and get all your questions answered. Welcome.

That is great ! DS scored best on pull ups and worst on basketball throw.

Even though they wont be doing the CFA again, they will be constantly physically tested, and expected to maintain a high level of fitness. The Army is much more about fitness than the other branches. USAFA marchback from Jack's Valley for example is a 5 mile hike with a camelback. USMA marchback is a 12 mile ruck from Camp Buckner with a full pack and rifle. Throughout the year, they will be doing ACFTs, IOTC, Crucible, Rucks, PT, etc. And depending on the club, fitness and grit are a deciding factor in the tryout. Clubs like Combat Weapons Team, Parachute, Sandhurst Black/Gold and even Scuba, the PT portion is the first part of the tryout, and weeds out a good portion. A physical fitness mindset is important and your cadet candidate needs to make sure they work at it.

Personally my platoon didn’t get tested for pull-ups and I didn’t see other companies doing pull-ups on R-day. It might’ve been because of the storm that day because the R day parade got cancelled as well. Either way, it’s good to practice pull-ups because that will be part of physical training at some point during CBT.

Also heard we're gonna march out to Buckner this year...just an interesting thing. Not sure if it's true or not.
