I am currently a senior in High School and was offered a 4 yr AROTC scholarship after the first board. On my AROTC application, I listed my intended major as Biology, although I am becoming unsure that that's what I want to major in and I'm hoping to switch it to something else, probably History, one way or another.

Are Army cadets/ future cadets able to change their major at all? Would I be able to change majors prior to contracting, but not after? Does the Army (or ROTC unit) not care about what my major is, or will I have to go through a bunch of red tape to switch without losing my scholarship?

Any help/experiences anyone could share are appreciated. Thank you

By and large they do not care, particularly before you start.
Have you accepted your scholarship? if so talk with your ROO.
I believe either way you would be allowed one change (with PMS approval), as long as it does not impact your graduation date.

Several years ago, DS changed majors from Chem E to Chem at the beginning of MS 3 year. Had high GPA and was otherwise well though of by Cadre.

That's all I know.

Your first major change will be done at your battalion (school) level.
You must create a new 104R for that new major to show it does not impact/push back your graduation date.
The PMS must then sign off on it, and then that is it for your FIRST change of major.

Do NOT change your major with your actual school until it has been approved by the Army of else you risk loss of scholarship.
