Clarification on cell phones

I have heard conflicting things. One is that our phones will be returned and another is that a phone will be issued. I don't want to bring my phone and leave it in some bag all summer if it isn't going to be given back at all but I don't want to leave it at home and have all my numbers missing when it is given back for me to call people. Can anybody clarify?

First of all don't buy into the 'rumor mill'. Candidates arriving with a cell phone will have to store it away for the summer. The talk about issuing cadets a cell phone has gone around for the past few years. It is not happening.

I would recommend that any cadet bringing a phone to leave in storage should remove the battery from the phone before storing.

Good Luck!

Maybe the confusion comes from: every Cadet will be issued a phone number (land line...lol, I know...from a museum lol) with unlimited long distance calls included in your room. Obviously you won't be in private but you'll have a phone to call family :thumb:

I meant during beast. By issued I meant given one to call home with at appointed times. I'm aware we won't be able to use the phones whenever we want during beast but my question is when we are allowed to use them will they be ours or our squad leaders (or whoever).

During Beast, phones will be provided for your use for each of the allowed phone calls -- our son used his beast cadre's phone for the two short calls and his host for the ice cream social had phones available for each of the plebes invited to his house. You will not need your phone and if things are the same as last year, you will not be allowed to use your own cell or land line phone until after the March Back.

Thank you. That answers my question. I suppose I will just leave my phone at home then instead of letting it sit in some room all summer.

Our son left his phone home and we brought it with us on A-Day -- it just seemed the safest way to go. He had a room phone to call out and let us know how he was after the March Back and since as a plebe he couldn't really talk outside of his room and cell reception isn't the greatest depending on where your room is located, it just made sense to leave it home. The only thing he couldn't do was text his friends for that week between March Back and A Day but facebook/email more than made up for that. Best of luck and enjoy this last week at home -- don't forget to be exceptionally nice to your parents :)
