Guys just keep in mind that they have just mailed - within the last couple of days - a bunch of them. My understanding is that most of the mail will be sent BY Friday. It may be early next week before they arrive in any significant numbers. I Just don't want to have a bunch of tortured moms and injured dads because people are looking too soon.

Although I have had my appointment for a few months, I have been following this thread and I just wanted to say you guys have some really good stories. I have a very different story than all of the calls that you have been receiving, but it is a good different. I found out about my LOA unofficially at the Academy when I went for a tour. My counselor was not allowed to say LOA or "Letter of Assurance" but she said to look out for a letter in the mail from AFA. The next day I had my congressional interviews where I officially found out about my LOA from a Medal of Honor recipient, which was pretty cool to say the least! The next day I was told I received a nomination so pretty much all suspense was gone at that point. The day I got my BFE though, I was looking on these boards and a bunch of the LOA kids who had had their statuses change from Letter of Assurance back to Complete the same day I did said they had their BFE in the mailbox. Yes I still ran to the mailbox even though I knew it would come eventually.

Best of luck to all the mailbox stalkers out there, but I am glad to not be one of you! I don't think my nerves could take it!
 
Cadet15, just for curiosity sake, what were your ACT scores, class rank, etc. I see from the appointment thread many got LOAs, just wondering how our son compares to someone that got a LOA. Thanks

I'm going on vacation next week, which means I won't get any of my mail from next week until after I get back...fortunately my girlfriend is taking care of my lizard and bringing in our mail, so I should get a call if anything arrives...would be nice to get the BFE sometime soon though...
 
Going on vacation knowing that you cannot check the mail is difficult. I am in Alaska with my Aunt and Uncle until saturday with my mom keeping a watchful eye on the mailbox!:biggrin:

They only act calm, cool, and collected. Just watch their reaction when they get their response. None of those adjectives will seem appropriate then...:D

My understanding is that there are still some boards convening, so even if you do not hear by next week, it doesn't really mean much. Notifications can continue for weeks after that and nobody knows how many appointments are left to be filled.
 
well, so I will TRY to be calm and wait...I promise...I will behave myself and not kill my husband yet...:biggrin:
He is such a fabulous man that i couldn't do it even if I tried...he has said all the way, since the beggining, that DS will get an appointment...it will take a true miracle(my opinion, not husband's)...but he will.

OK - don't kill him. But c'mon - you can't let him get away with that. Drizzle some soy sauce on his waffles in the morning - something. :shake:
 
or hot sauce on the waffles or toast!! as usual this thread makes me smile:biggrin:also got a chuckle about the lemonade and lawn chair by the mailbox considering it is SNOWING here and i can hardly see the trees in my backyard!! isn't it supposed to be spring? stalking the mailbox around here involves boots, coats, shovels, hats, mittens and hoping the wind doesnt whip the mail out of your hands. hoping for many BFE's for all of you early next week.

I am not a patient waiter! I wouldn't say my son is calm, cool and collected either, but then again he really isn't saying much. The waiting is just torture!!!

We know of a couple kids from our area that are at the Academy now (2 degree) that were notified in November and December. The one dad said our son would get in no problem. Now here we are the third week of March and we still don't know anything. This long wait is very discouraging!
 
I am going through the same thing (I would say I am in the same boat but we are AF for goodness sake! :biggrin:) Just know that whether we were apoointed in Novemeber or March we will still all be cadets!

So true! But it's the fact that we still don't know. I am a "planner". I need to know if my son will need stuff for his dorm room in WI or if we send him with a pair of underwear and a toothbrush. LOL
 
I'm Northern IL as well. Has anyone (non-LOA) heard yet? I'm hoping our mail is just extra-slow...
 
I'm non LOA and I heard last friday. However, I was told that official notifications will start being mailed out this Friday.
