Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

We are waiting also for Naval Academy. I don't even know what BFE means. can someone give me the lowdown on these acronyms?

I'm also waiting on USMA...BFE means Big Fat Envelope...I only just figured that one out recently...

oops not fast enough. there is a list of these acronyms floating around here somewhere.

So how did that work exactly...
From my understanding, they re-fill the slots from the people that drop out on the first or second days of BCT. I think about 50 people drop out within the first 2 days each year, and they re-fill those slots within the first week. I believe thats how it works. Correct me if im wrong.

In 1970 it was a lot easier. There was no Internet; therefore, there was no "hot" information on the mailing of BFEs. We simply carried on with life. One afternoon I received a call while I was trying to decide between Cornell and RPI. Problem solved! I was going to USAFA. I think it was easier in 1970.

well, so I will TRY to be calm and wait...I promise...I will behave myself and not kill my husband yet...
He is such a fabulous man that i couldn't do it even if I tried...he has said all the way, since the beggining, that DS will get an appointment...it will take a true miracle(my opinion, not husband's)...but he will.

I'm just hoping my husband doesn't strangle me! I'm the one on pins and needles.

I'm not sure of the reason exactly other than being told that my year less than the anticipated # of those offered appointments accepted them. I remember being at my summer job, expecting to go ROTC in the fall, and my dad calling me, telling me the MOC's rep told him they had a slot for me if I still wanted it--and that I had literally hours to decide. Complicating matters was it was almost July 4th weekend and flights were full. An airline friend helped my family get me on a flight--first class--and the rest is history, lol. A whole group of us (can't recall...15 maybe?) spent a few days in "private instruction" (not as cushy as it sounds, trust me!) with cadre before being released into our BCT squadrons, sans the Bus Ride. I don't think they'd have had the swiftness to call up alternates if people dropped out the first few days, but maybe they do. The point of my bringing it up is for all the candidates who don't get their BFEs to keep working out, to keep their hopes up!! Don't do what I did and believe I didn't make it and not run or do a push up for 6 weeks. OUCH. :shake:

DS Andrew is in class today. Attendance lady comes to class and calls for "Andrew". He thinks this is it! Too bad there are two Andrew's in class and this was the other one to leave early. Still waiting with you!

I got called to a Dean's office the other day. Needless to say that the excitement of potentially being told about an appointment crept into my mind, as hard as I tried keeping it out. It turns out it was just a "certificate" (piece of paper) for getting on the Principal's Honor Roll. Most disappointing straight A's ever :yllol:

I have difficulty believing that "about 50" drop out within the first 2 days of BCT. The stats I've seen indicate that about 50 drop by the end of Beast. I've also heard/read that the USAFA is not re-filling slots anymore once BCT begins, and that they have not done this for quite some time.

Haha, on the other end of that, I got called down to one of the Assistant Principals the other day in the middle of class mind you, of course, for a second I thought about the possibility of an appointment...turned out I had forgot to display my parking pass so they were all in a tizzy that someone might be parking in the school lot without one...

Good thing that was not on your permanent record when your transcripts were sent! DENIED! :)

Haha, I didn't really get in any trouble for it, though they gave me a verbal warning...not entirely sure why I had to sign a piece of paper for forgetting to display a parking pass, but it did kind of make me laugh...

Hello everyone.
Just checking in and enjoyed reading all of the posts about husbands/waffles, starting a lemonade stand by the mailbox ( hehehehe)! There will be none of that here. We had a blinding snow storm here yesterday! Maybe a hot cocoa stand? Hmmmm.:shake:
Good luck at the mailbox today! rangermom

I am in receipt of some info and have no idea at ALL what it means. I debated as to whether or not to share it because as Pima likes to say in her comments, it may "muddy the waters". But here goes: My friend who lives in Arizona called last night to ask about DS/AFA/ etc. She said that she called because her daughter told her yesterday that a friend at school found out on Tuesday that she was not admitted to the USAFA. Of course, I immediately asked her HOW? HOW? HOW? Was it the online app status, was it the mail, was it a phone call...? And of couse, my friend, not being a member of the exclusive Stalker Club, did not realize the utter importance of us knowing that! So duly chastised, she will try to get the 411 on that and I will share at that time. It could have been a waiver that was not granted....lots of different things other than the TWE...as I was not aware that they had gone out already. Am I wrong? Oh well, that's what I have to report at 6:19 on Thursday March 24th, 2011. Good morning Stalkers! I hope it was not a TWE....or I may not want to stalk the mail any more!!! :)
