Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Thanks for all the congrats! Actually I think he's pretty set on NROTC at MIT at this point, but we go out next week for the "PreFrosh" weekend there and he'll make a final decision then. Told his brother he had tonight to try to convince him he wanted USAFA because he'll send in the form to decline the appointment tomorrow.

Congrats to the friend!!! That's great news! Although VVCFF took me a long time! (Very very close family friend? ).

LOL, I think I spelled it out a few pages back, you are correct, very very close family friend, she's like a daughter to me :thumb:

I can't believe I didn't discover this site until just now! Been stalking the mailman pretty regularly here in Virginia, and its getting brutal. I don't honestly even know what to expect. I'm 3 Q'd with an LOA, but without a nom. That being said, I would obviously be expecting a TWE before the week is out. However, I got a call two weeks ago from USAFA asking if I was still interested (to which I of course said "YES!") and that they were going to try and find me a nomination. Nothing in the mail today, but that wont stop the anxiety for tomorrow. Congrats to all who heard back in the affirmative, and stay strong to those who didn't! W3e should all be proud to have made it this far.

Our friend was in a similiar situation, LOA in October, but no nom. She ended up getting a last minute nom from her representative a few weeks ago, due to some disqualifications on representatives slate, so she ended up getting her appointment yesterday. BUT, USAFA told her nominator that they did have her on the list to "find" her a nom, but now they could remove her from that list...they said the ones who have LOA's are ones they really want as part of the class, and they are trying very hard to find them nominations (either thru VP or others on slates with DQs), so stay positive! :thumb:

Our message in church this past Sunday was... "Sometimes Winners are Dreamers, who just don't quit." Made me think of this journey all our DS and DD are on, or will soon be on. Best of luck to everyone.

Congratulation's to ALL who received their appointment today!
One year and 25 days and DS's TWE came in the mail today:frown:
I'm so proud of him!!! He took it so well. He said," Mom, I have goals and it doesn't matter really what avenue I take to get to and live my dreams." He said," AFROTC, then AF." I gave him a hug anyway. he said, " Mom, really I'm fine!" The he and my husband went out the door, in the back, and did their target practice.
I can't tell you how proud he and my husband are of him! He is a fine young man and he is right! He will obtain his goals and dreams, he is a go getter!!
Again, Congratulation's everyone, your children, no matter where they go to college are ALL amazing young people and we have every reason to be proud of them!!!!! Over and out, rangermom
ps.. I hope you do not mind if I stalk for a couple more days... I want to read about all of the fine men and women who do get their appointments, I feel like I know some of you:thumb:

I tried to explain to my son why this forum is such a great thing for moms...we FEEL every moment of this whole process. Though he has received good news through the MOC, I still FEEL every step of waiting for the BFE and for each and every person on this forum. We learn to share the joys and mourn the sorrows, FEELING everything each mom, dad and kid experiences along the way. Every step along the way, my mind said "God's will be done," but my heart said "please, please, please let it be this way..." Each student who has reached this point is an awesome example of commitment and dedication to a noble goal. They will all succeed in whatever they pursue. But know that a mom in Georgia is FEELING each of your joys and heartaches as this process winds down for all of us.

Ive been stalking for the last year but made up my mind not to write anything till I get my BFE and I got it today!

P.S. so did my twin brother but he already accepted West Point so there still one more appointment for someone who is waiting :]

P.P.S CA 46 district but I think I was on the NWL because another guy who went to my school last year and went to Prep School and got the nom this year.
Wow, my son got his BFE this morning and his twin brother got his BFE from West Point on February 1st! Two sets of twins split up between AFA and WP! pretty cool, cangratulations. I can assure you that your parents are extremely proud.

Good morning everyone! Here it is cold, overcast, raining any time now, and just plain rotten out. However, I am brushing that all off and am remaining chipper regardless of what news we receive. First big conference VB game today against the team we tied for second with last year.

Good luck on your volleyball game! Ready for another stalking day here in sunny VA!

For anyone who questions the future of our country, I feel one only needs to look at young men and women who have gone through this process. Whether or not they received an appointment, they are all special and give promise to our future.

Northern Illinois checking in. Sunny outside with a little hope for a BFE. Stalking scheduled for 12:30 PM. Time to get back to work.

DS just got off the phone with his admission's counselor. He was told that he would be receiving a TWE today or tomorrow that he was "qualified but no vacancy". Now the wait for Prep or Falcon. One thing everyone in our home has learned from this process is that there is always another step to wait on. However, DS appears to still be committed to attending the Academy.

So if you call the counselor, they will tell you were you stand?

Sorry to hear the bad news. Best wishes with plan B and we'll see you next year with a BFE!

Well, it's another day. I would expect (hope) a lot of people to get letters one way or the other today. Good luck to everyone.

I just called my admissions counselor and received the same information as Blackbird - "qualified but no vacancy".

..........sigh...........:frown:

It's been a long journey, and to end with this...

I don't plan on giving up though - hell no. I've been privileged to have been offered an AFROTC Scholarship to ERAU Prescott to pursue an Aerospace Engineering major. I'll work by butt off to be the very top academically, physically and militarily, and will apply again and again and again and again till I'm too old to apply (at 23 years of age, I think it was).

You're not getting rid of me that easily, USAFA - in the words of General MacArthur,

I'LL BE BACK!

Good for you!!! That is the attitude. I am sure many people who qualified got turned down this year, this might just be a bad year. Hopefully no cuts next year. My daughter didn't qualify because of SAT but she is not about to give up either. So more power to you both. Good Luck!!!

Love your attitude. I think you're quoting The Terminator. MacArthur said "I shall return."

Guess I wasn't fast enough in my typing - I just did a quick wiki search to make sure it wasn't MY memory that was faulty but I was thinking the same thing - wasn't that Schwarzenegger, not MacArthur?! Old West Pointer here who had to memorize too many of MacArthur's quotes so thought I knew that one!

In any case, I really look forward to seeing a lot of you here over the next year. Each year it seems like there are so many candidates who get the TWE, swear they're going to reapply the next year, and the last we ever hear from them is around May. Promise yourself that if this means that much to you that you WILL continue the process and we'll see you on the 2016 Appointments thread next year! :thumb:
