Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

BFE received yesterday! My DD is starting to freak out now that USAFA is a real possibility and not just some dream.
To BrianReed: my daughter is a facebook friend of yours so I have been keeping up with you on this thread. I guess you all met at summer seminar. I am so proud of you and know that you will get to USAFA one way or another. Best of Luck!
To all others that received the TWE, best of luck, as well.
This thread has become bitter-sweet in that we rejoice with those who received the BFE and our hearts break for those who did not. Sometimes I think luck has a roll in all of this. My DD just got rejected from Rice and waitlisted at Vanderbilt but accepted to USAFA, Coast Guard and Cornell - go figure!

I indeed heard about your DD over facebook - acceptance to both CGA and AFA - congratulations!! :D We were in the same element during Summer Seminar '10 - she's truly an amazing and inspiring person. Looks like I'll just have to wait one more year till I get to see her in person again! :)

Also, Christcorp (luv him) started a thread for juniors in HS to give them a checklist as they start the process. I asked how to prepare as a freshman in college. He and another poster offerred some good tips if you want to go take a look. Hope I won't need this info, but...... Happy Tuesday everyone

I got in!!!! I just talked with a represenitive from senator snowes office yesterday and the messege that I took from that conversation was that I haven't been accepted :frown: and the i just checked my online app about half an hour ago and my status changed to appointment offered!!! :yllol: just goes to show ya, ITS NOT OVER 'TILL ITS OVER!!!!!!!!!! :thumb: my thoughts go out to everybody still waiting, congrats on getting this far!!! I've come to realize that there is no such thing as a "average service academy student", you all have to be amazing for getting this far! And because i haven't got the BFE in my hands yet im going to continue to stalk the mailbox!

Dear FalconFamily,

Thanks! So funny! I'm "sort of" back to myself. As a parent, how I handle adversity is a lesson to my children. So I am "back on the saddle" and trying to put "a pep in my step." Ok, I fake it pretty well. I want comfort food. Grilled cheese. Lemonade. Double stuffed anything.

Maineac and Imagination! giving you a "shout-out"!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy for you!! Life is good!

I'm the only one on here. I need to go get that grilled cheese, ladies and gents. Sorry for hogging the forum.

Mom of USAFA Candidate 2015

Thanks for the quick responses!:yllol::shake::thumb:

To BrianReed: We are in the 40th District of California. Where are you right now, and what district are you from? ... Maybe I should ask my DS to call the USAFA Counselor/ALO? But DS is in varsity tennis and it is tennis season from March to May. He has games until at least 6 PM. I don't want to overstep! But with the time difference, it is late in Colorado by the time he finishes...

Gosh, this reminds me of the dreadfully long wait to hear about the bar exam results years ago!!! We waited about 4 months to hear back after the gruelling 3 day exam... But I survived it and passed it! My DS was only 2 then and he waited by the mailbox with me for it! He danced the happy dance when we got the BFE! (Yeah, I found out I was pregnant with him the month I started law school, I had him in my Freshman year second sem, he was a preemie baby too, 8 weeks early... What was I thinking?!!! Anyway, he caught up, he's 6'1 now and a USAFA Candidate, Thank God almighty!)

To Tailwind Angel: You are truly inspiring throughout this forum! I've been reading for a few weeks now and you have made me laugh out loud and cry too! My prayers go out to you and your son. Keep the faith in this process. You make me want to be a better mom everytime I read your posts...:thumb:

To Dad: Congratulations!!! Thanks for the info on the AFROTC...:thumb:

It's tax season and I am (supposed to be) really busy as ever ... I've got to get back to work now, really... Lots of meetings this afternoon. But I hate this whole waiting game... I will check in again with all of you tomorrow!!!

Well, I'm in Switzerland right now (that explains the Swiss flag on my avatar ^^), but I hold legal permanent residence in the 36th District of CA.

You're going to find out about the Academy's decision sooner or later, be it a phone call to the USAFA Counselor by your DS (the ALOs don't know yet - at least, mine didn't) or my the incoming BFE/TWE (hopefully BFE!!!!). Your call as to which method you prefer. Very best of luck!!!!

Also remember some are getting the BFE or TWE and taking this time to be with their family.

They will pop up soon enough.

Did anyone hear from California today?

We are in California--two in the household applying. One TWE received yesterday dated 25 Mar. We don't know if no news on the second means good news, or it's just another form of torture! Good luck to everyone. And for those who got a TWE, so did I way back when, and I'm sitting here looking at the morning sunshine glint off the USAFA ring on my right hand, so if this is your dream, hold fast to it and don't let it fly away.

Maybe those huge envelopes take longer to be processed and delivered in the mail

Declination signed and in mailbox. :frown:

Hope if nothing else it helps someone else out!

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone here today - I'll definitely be following this thread at work!

Wow, he made that decision quick...he just wants to make sure his parents have to drive across country to see their kids...couldn't have them both in one place!
Seriously though, it was very thoughtful of him to return it so quickly, to enable others a possible appointment.

From one Maineiac to another, CONGRATS! I lived in Maine when I rcvd my appointment to USAFA over 20 yrs ago!, its still home to me--living in exile in Ohio now.

Status changed today and BFE arrived today! This one was unexpected. No LOA and no SS acceptance. My mailbox stalking days are over for awhile--now on to child #2 .

Congratulations to those who have been offered and/or accepted their appointment!!

Good luck to everyone still waiting--I know how hard it is.
