Class of 2015 - Mailbox Stalkers Club

Wow, FalconFamily started this thread on March 1st. What a journey!! We still have no word, but will remain hopeful til the bitter end. My DS called the AFA counselor who remained vague but said he will 'hopefully get the letter today" - this was yesterday. So, immediately he thinks why would she say 'hopefully'? Is that a good sign? Then why would she say 'letter' - that sounds bad because wouldn't she say package or something? Poor kid needs to find out one way or another. I told him it was a canned response and to let it go......still hopeful
 
I've corrected my post...1367 total offers...I don't have the figures for the number of offers mailed last week. I apologize.

MikeR, It blows me away how many people have gravitated to this thread. I think part of it is the participation of a lot of great posters, the humor, support, and kindness that they show to each other. This process of being appointed is PAINFUL, it starts so soon for these kids. Summer Seminar is already filled, completing the applications, competing for Nominations, updating applications, and waiting.......just being in the same situation as so many others makes the wait much more tolerable.
 
It was mentioned on the afa admissions facebook page that appointments will continue to flow until may. Still waiting here....

Did anyone else get appointments in CA?

For those who received their BFEs who got calls from their MOCs, did they call during the day or at night? Just curious.

attybella.....our congressman called at 10am.....a few days later the senator called at 6:45pm. I think a call can happen at any time of the day depending on the MOC. In my mind I figured it would be around dinner time...so was surprised when our congressman called at 10am. Hang in there...I know the wait is difficult.

I checked the Appointments 2015 thread and there had been no new appointees in CA the last few days, except for V1ctor1ous. I read it somewhere here that there are only between 7 - 8% of the appointees/candidates who check in with our forums here so there are definintely more appointees than what is listed there.

It's already the 31st of March today and no word... I'm stressing out thinking it's probably a TWE bec of QNV...Then I think maybe there's still hope bec. they are still sending a few BFEs...

Like I posted earlier, this reminds me of that dreadful wait for my bar exam results almost 16 years ago! My DS was only 2 and he waited by the mailbox with me that whole week! I can't do this wait with him bec. he's in school!!! My insides are sick, I haven't really had much appetite this week, I'm losing weight -- great for the upcoming warm days here... I have to distract myself... BBQ sounds great right about now, not for eating but so I can keep myself busy and not go crazy! And oh yeah, I got lots of work to do too!!!

Candidate: Yes, margaritas sound great today with the warm weather!!! Yeah, c'mon over! We are in OC. Seriously, we parents need our own support group for this!!! I don't even think our kids understand the toll it's taking from us all!!!:shake: Wouldn't it be great for all of us here to get BFEs like tomorrow?!!! :thumb::wink::thumb::yllol::shake:

Gosh, I wish I could get out of the office early, but it's tax season and I am so swamped! I can't even believe how much time I spend being in this forum. I just do a few cases, then I "reward" myself a few minutes to come here... This is addictive!!! BTW, I also get dreams about this whole thing...

After the BBQ and margaritas, I'd also love to head over to Burke Williams Day Spa and get a massage, a body wrap, a hot oil treatment and a blow dry for my hair right now....:shake::smile::wink::cool:

My DS is MOC X2 and Pres nominations

They are obviously still busy in the admissions office.

Bugsy: I'm so jealous that your DS got more than one nom. CA MOCs don't like giving double noms, we were highly discouraged by that. Once any CA MOC found out that there is already one nom for a candidate, they did not even want to interview or review the additional nom applications...

I'm sure the Admissions office knows this fact. But I can't help but wonder if the CA Candidates with only one nom are at a disadvantage bec. other candidates from other states get double and triple noms... I certainly hope not. But this comes into consideration if the candidate is in the national pool...

Pima and Flieger93, I hope you can give us your insight on this...

DS got the QNV letter. He sounds surprisingly okay, but I know he wanted this. Bummer
 
OK.....now that I have polished off all the chocolate in the house, it is too early for wine, I will do that later. Husband is avoiding me and "my mood". I have oh so carefully placed her TWE on top of her laptop. I think I will go fetch some more chocolate from the store.:wink: Good luck to all and I hope you find your paths.
 
Surprised by 2x MOC nom

We were surprised by 2moc noms because our mods do talk to each other and it's not typical. He got his congressman and one senator. The interviews did go very well for both. The other senator gave a nom to usmma.

Yes your at a disadvantage. But the system is designed to ensure geographic representation. Less folks in NM than CA.

Bottom line tho at this time is. All of us has the same stress level. Even with 3 noms we are sweating this thing.
