I have to disagree. Heroism means more than just joining up. There are plenty of folks who've never deployed and never will. There's more to being a hero than just signing on the dotted line.

As the '50 grad and Korea vet who spoke at Founder's Day put it:

"I don't believe in that word 'hero.' Not for us. Heroism is far too fleeting to be of any worth. Today's hero can be yesterday's malingerer and tomorrow's deserter. Duty...that is what matters."
 
So is this week we should be receiving BFE or TWE? This borad has been deathly quiet for too long as to appointments.
 
I would expect that whatever number of appointments remain for the first round are being prepared as we speak, but I also would not be surprised to discover that the final BFEs, TWEs, and NWLs arrive early next week.
 
I realize that each Academy performs their appointment notifications differently, but the USAFA appointment board is starting to light up. Wish there was more activity on this one as well.
 
Maybe the moms have skipped this board and have gone directly to West Point Moms. :thumb:
 
I have an LOA but just waiting. Applied to late for a nom, any time table with this, would I have already gotten the TWE? No news good or bad news? Recruited athlete
 
global, how is it possible to get in without a nom? I thought that was a non-negotiable requirement.

My Boys State buddy is appointed from MA (Nominated from one of the Senators, I forget), just isn't on the SAF.
 
Had a LOA for this year but did not apply for a nomination because I decided to reapply to late, but just checked my portal and got a nomination from my congressman somehow! So this means an appointment is in the mail:thumb::eek: I am a recruited athlete btw

I honestly don't know. I feel as if he may have been a recruited athlete as he was a big football player.

Pretty much all I learned about him was that he went to SLS, Boys State, played football, and ate 3 large pizzas in one sitting while we were at Boys State. :biggrin: He's a great guy, glad to hear he's going to USMA.
