Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

:guns4: Nothing wrong with the Marines, don't know how I'd like the diet of nails and barbwire though.

My USAFA counselor told me yesterday that my file is going to the panel this week. I should be receiving my TWE soon and then I will probably join the Marines :)

Why such a negative attitude. My file went to the board yesterday and I am supposed to hear the outcome in the next couple of days, very hopeful. FWIW the XC and track coach who are recruiting me told me the board will not be meeting for the next two Wednesdays which I assume means no appointments for the next three weeks, which fits in with the timeline they want.

How can they do that? That means that they would start again until march 7th. leaving 2 weeks to get the majority of the appointments out, that means that they would be reviewing hundreds of people each time they met.

That is just what I was told, it is by no means the final word. Maybe it is just for athletes but I highly doubt it.

Found it 'Dad'!! (from Illinois)

As Tom Petty would say ' the waiting is the hardest part'! Congratulations to those who have received the great news! To everyone else, I am praying for all of you and my DS as we commiserate and stalk the box.

Still Waiting for a medical waiver...

I know that it may seem easy to say that we parents and our DD's and DS's should try and sit back and enjoy the ride, but the waiting part (when we don't know our answer) is not that easy or simple to do. My DS has already been accepted to quite a few other colleges and universities, but he hasn't even opened those schools' packets. His heart is set on the USAFA or the USNA and it is currently not good timing to really discuss what he will do (or where he will go to school) if he doesn't get his heart's desire. Just like the dad who is so proud of his DD and Christcorp who is so proud of his son who is about to graduate from the USAFA, we are are so incredibly proud of our son too! He is such an awesome young man but I know that so are the wonderful young men and women leaders that are also such utterly terrific, fantastic, honorable and worthy candidates. I realize that the job of selecting from so many talented and remarkable candidates must be unimaginably difficult. I too believe that God has a plan for my son... My son has amazing faith and he does believe that God's plan for his life includes his being accepted to the academy. We need prayers that the medical waiver review board will agree... Our prayers continue for all of you in this most challenging month ahead.

Actually, unless something major is happening, boards do not meet on Wed. They meet on Monday, results come out starting Wed. That is why if you look at the list of appointees, they have the same dates.

Also, the rule of thumb for yrs has been if the AFA is in school, the board will meet.

Now place that into the equation of why the coach stated this. Last Monday was a federal holiday, thus the board would not have met, unless they changed it to another day. Remember, the members on the board have other jobs at the AFA, than just the board, so this is difficult to do because of scheduling conflicts. Which goes back to why the rule is if the school is in, they meet.

Global may also find out by the end of the week because his nom slate may all be done by the time he receives his WCS. Apptmts cannot be charged to a source until all candidates on that slate have a WCS. Additionally, if his WCS is high enough that the AFA feels he would def. come in off the pool slate, they may move forward and appt him anyway since he is a recruited athlete.

He has a unique situation, so I would not leap to the belief that appts will start coming out in bulk when the slate has @ 1 week still to close. Trust what the AFA is saying, and do not expect an answer for at least 3 more weeks.

Still waiting in New Jersey......nothing has changed since last fall on DS portal......

Same here. Some days I'm good with it. Other days it drives me insane.

Batmom, we are still waiting on the medical waiver as well. The ALO told DS to keep on top of the medical review board. He had 3 issues that needed a waiver and now we are down to the last one. Keep hoping and praying. Things will work out for your DS. Good Luck and hope to meet you and everyone else on this forum in June!!:thumb:

Another thing I look at - each time there is a new post on the official appointment thread - I'm relieved when it's not from my district. If a nominee gets selected from our MOC - does that mean it's "over" for DS?

No.

If a candidate is selected from your district, you don't know who they're charged to. They may have a Presidential nomination and it removes them from the slate your DS is competing with. The process is very complicated and you'll make yourself crazy (crazier?) trying to figure it out. Also, even if you DS is not selected from your MOC's nomination slate, he could still be picked up with a VP nomination or from the NWL (National Waiting List). Keep the hope up, but also have a solid plan B. Hoping you'll hear good news soon. :thumb:
