DS just took the call from our MoC. He has been offered an appointment to USNA...Which is great! BUT, he still prefers USAFA, so we continue to wait. Some pressure is gone because if USAFA doesn't come through he'll still be able to attend a great school for his preferred career as an aeronautical engineer.

I hate to throw a monkey wrench into anyone's guessing, but I live in Rhode Island and my DS received his BFE on a Thursday and it was postmarked Wednesday. The portal was not updated until after he received the BFE and his MOC never called him. So I guess I'm telling you that it could be any day that you receive the BFE. Maybe you should just continue to stalk your postman Good Luck to all and remember the middle of March will be here next week

Please clarify: The BFE arrived Thursday, and had been mailed Weds THE PREVIOUS WEEK? I find it hard to believe that it got to RI overnight.

I'm from Rhode Island as well, and have yet to receive my BFE. However, my portal was updated with an appointment offer in late February. I haven't received a call yet.

Your Portal was updated on 29 Feb., correct? I am sure your BFE was mailed the same day, and if, in fact, it took 8 days for Sportsmom10 to get theirs, it is likely that you won't receive yours until Weds or Thursday this week. Please update us when you do get the BFE! Congratulations on your appointment!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone! We're still stalking the mailbox for a nod from USAFA. This forum is great and has been a pressure reducer, kinda like a good mental massage. ROMAD I hope we have a chance to meet someday. There aren't very many of us around anymore. What's that new acronym for a ROMAD stand for? Sounds kinda wussiefied to me.

Finally got a hold of my USAFA counselor about my ACT scores (I've been calling for weeks and left a couple of messages with no response). I retook it in October and got two points better on math and reading, and have sent them twice but there was no update on my portal. I figured that they had the scores but it just wasn't on my app, however this was not the case!! I went into total freak out mode because both of these scores are lower and very critical. Emailed my HS counselor and hopefully my scores will be faxed ASAP. At least I can say I'm relieved that I haven't heard back yet..

I wanted to ask what had happened with the phone call, but afraid to pry. It looks as though your MOC had two nominees to the USNA! That gives me a small fraction of hope!

Congratulations to your son! What a great option to attend USNA! I'm sure he'll be able to study aeronautical engineering there too, and the Navy needs good pilots.

Junk mail fake-out

Darn those big white envelopes from colleges! DD is a sophomore with great test scores, so we are getting tons of college mail for her now. That's two times now that I have gone to the mail box to see a big white envelope, causing my heart to flutter and my knees to go weak! I'm convinced that when it's the real BFE they will find me passed out in the street by the mailbox!

I stand corrected. The post mark was 2/6/12 which was Monday and we received it on 2/9/12 (Thursday) at 10:00 in the morning. Sorry for posting incorrect information. That's what I get for going by memory.

No worries! Thank you so much for posting the information! Curious that it was posted on a Monday, though. I guess it just proves the premise of your post: You never know when the BFE might come in the mail. BACK TO DAILY STALKING!
