Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Math for BFEs

Well, if you take the square root of the sum of the last three years of the average time frame for appointment notifications, then multiply by the class size minus the derivative of the function of BFEs over TWEs, then the answer might equal what I want to hear: that my DS will get his BFE this week.
:shake:

It's hard to wait, but we just have to help each other through this. Put your calculators away and try to keep your sense of humor. I am more hyper than usual too, and my BP is up, but I'm doing my best to be cool.

Ha Ha! YorkieMom75, I love your funny math!

Expect this week to be the beginning of the frenzy.......

For a point of reference, my daughter received a call from the MOC during her Spring Break last year which was the last week of March. She received her BFE the following week.

My son got the call from our senator the first week of April last year-also during our spring break. The BFE arrived about one week later.

We're waiting anxiously again this year with my younger DS...it doesn't get any easier.

Thanks for all the updates. I'm new to the forum and I'm glad to know I'm not the only nervous parent. Counselor told me two weeks ago that the appointments should start rolling out a couple of weeks earlier than expected (mid month by my calculations). Good luck all.

activity in admissions office?

Ok I can't stand it any longer! I have been a closet stalker for some time now but the pressure is getting to me. Like most of you I've been anxiously watching the portal, the forums, DoDMERB and admissions FB. Until an hour ago there had been no activity on FB since last Friday. Let's hope they were busy stuffing BFEs yesterday!

I'm just the mom of a candidate who re-applied this year. I was handling this so much better until DS got the medical waiver last week. Now that there is hope I can't get my mind off it. Thanks to all of you posters, you keep me sane!

Welcome to the collective pressure cooker!

Welcome aboard! And good luck! March madness will hopefully begin this week.

Perfect description! That is exactly how I feel these days!

Today my DS spoke at a Scouting fundraiser. They wanted him because it was earning the Aviation merit badge in 2005 that set him on this path. It would have been so much better if he could have ended his speech with where he was going rather than talking about USAFA and all of his Plan B's. At least he has some great Plan B options in place. He has also been asked to speak at a council dinner on April 30--I sure hope we do know what he is doing by then.

Another day closer......

I feel your pain, as another mom waiting!! I read and read, just hoping there is something that will give me a positive sign!!
This is killing me!!!!

I hate to admit this...I am a mailbox stalker and I already have a child there. I am on pins and needles for my girlfriend/neighbor's daughter!.

I've even peered out the window when the mail carrier delivers our mail and try and see if a BFE is being delivered in their box!!

Good luck to you all...I sure do miss my cadet but I know he's where he wants to be.

Hello, my name is Profsparrow, I am a mailbox stalker, it's been 12 minutes since my last stalk (hello Profsparrow). :shake:

question:

I am a candidate, awaiting an appointment like so many others. Everyone I encounter seems to want to talk about the academy. Today I spoke to an USAFA 80's graduate who brought the background checks, security clearances, etc. I gave him the usual sarcastic "You know me, always in trouble" response. Then I remembered being told back in the summer that the academy would send people to talk to my friends, neighbors, teachers about me. (Always thought that was funny considering how "shady" some of my neighbors are!) Anyway, I asked him if the academy really had the manpower to conduct such an investigation on each and every student. Makes since considering the value of the education we are getting. However, when I thought about this again today, I couldn't remember anyone mentioning some "man in black" knocking on their door asking about me. Not that it matters at this point, just thought I'd ask to see if anyone had any funny experiences to share. (The closer March madness becomes, the more I try to occupy my mind with things other than that BFE in the mail. lol)

I am a very obsessed mailbox/inbox stalker. Everyday someone asks me what I’m doing next year... wish I could tell them! I'm sure you all have the same frustrations. I have told myself that at the end of this week I can start stalking "for real" because the app says "later part of March" and technically it will then be the later part of March. Of course I really know that I probably won't get anything until April. Alas, the waiting continues.

That is hilarious! I'm on the same boat as you, and everyone else. One of my friends received an appointment to West Point, so now I'm even more anxious to see if I have received one for the USAFA. Pins and needles. Pins and needles.

Not necessarily each and every student. It depends on which career you go into. If you need a Top Secret clearance then yes, investigators will talk to your neighbors, past employers, coworkers, friends, friends of friends, teachers, ect. They will flash a badge prior to asking any questions.

Jumping On

I just joined in and decided to share. We are from North AL and our son received 3 noms (both sens & rep, AL-05). Today I found a press release by Sen Shelby announcing his noms for the Mobile area. There were 2 noms to USAFA. I have been trying to follow this only to determine how many actual noms to USAFA went out for the state. We have already executed plan B and accepted the full tuition scolarship to AU and will be attending camp war eagle (class registrations)...that hurts to type cuz I like to yell RTR (Roll Tide Roll)! If our son does get USAFA we will wait until successful completion of BCT before dropping/withdrawing AU. It is absolutely amazing to watch how calm the boy has been throughout this entire process. From Mar through Aug 30 (package completion) he busted butt and said now I wait. Is it posssible that what I learned as a Marine...Improvise, Adapt and Overcome somehow was instilled in the boy? Best of luck to all for the BFE.
