Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

CollegeWeekLive

Just got done talking to Admissions reps. I'm confident in reapplying for 2017 now, (did not receive a TWE but I now know what I need to do in the event I get one). They pretty much reiterated everything that has been said on the forum, but Candidates can send in accomplishments that they have had thus far (academic achievements, community awards, fine arts awards, et cetera) but just not standardized test scores.

I didn't have the time to talk with admissions last year, so today I went ahead and knocked that off my check list.:thumb:

For the CFA i thought that it couldnt disqualify you? Im worried now about my scores.
I did 10 pullups, 100 situps, 75 pushups, 69 bball throw, 8.4 shuttle, and a 6:10 Mile. Thanks just trying to ease the nervousness.

If you score low enough in the CFA (There are 'minimums') then I believe it will DQ you from the application process or make you take it again. Your scores are better than mine so I wouldn't worry homes. :thumb:

Amen to that! And being an ADAF spouse for all these years.... it's all about the "hurry up and wait" for the rest of their Military career. You'd think my fellow military spouses would stop asking me "when are you going to hear something" as they should know how this all works. I keep saying, everyday it isn't a "No" is one more day that DS is still in the running.

Same here. With all the hype about candidates being dq'd for their cfa, i'm just relieved to log on to my portal and find that I am still in the running.

This might be a weird question, but what's the portal? Is that your online application form?

?

Another question from a new poster: what does the "d" in DS/DD stand for?

Of course thanks! Lol. And to answer your question, yes the portal is your online app

A few other common abbreviations you'll see here...
BFE....Big Fat Envelope (offer of appointment)
TWE....Thin White Envelope (usually not good news)
SMNE....Stalked Mailbox No Envelope
DS....Dear Son, DD....Dear Daughter
AD....Active Duty
PM....Private Message

OMGAAMP....Oh My God Alligators Ate My Poodle. :shake:

DS: "Mom! Are you reading that Academy Forum again?" Me: "No?" DS: "You need to calm down!" :yikes:

Anteater

I like the Okra!

We were the Anteaters - a mammal of the suborder Vermilingua "worm tongue" -------Im thrilled with the Falcons!

I try not to think about it to help time pass, but it's hard. This next week I will be stalking my mailbox more than ever, though! :eek3:

looool I applied there!

They got the name because (years ago) they tried to save money by buying some off colored football jersies that were a darker green than the Kelly Green normally worn. The first game they were in, someone high in the stands remarked that "They look like a bunch of okra wiggling around down there in those jersies" The name stuck. I think their motto was "The Fightin Okra - we're not just your everyday vegetable"!

Best

:shake:

I have to agree about the names, our 2 kids at their colleges have mascots that make me LMAO.

Seriously, who is afraid of a TERP...giant turtle! Or a HOKIE...a castrated hen, Hokie parents I know it isn't that, but it is what everyone considers it to be.

Hoping our 3rd and final child goes to a college that the mascot is at least a little threatening!
