Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Hoping our 3rd and final child goes to a college that the mascot is at least a little threatening!

I reading this, I see that we've actually been very lucky with our kid's school mascots. We've got a Falcon, an Eagle, and a Hawk!

Thanks for the entertaining posts, everyone, and best of luck in the waiting game. I am reading all of them and keeping my fingers crossed!

I will tell you something though... The waiting never stops. Even now, five years after I was in your shoes, I still wait to hear if my son passed a check ride, or whatever the next step is for that day. It doesn't end!

Forums

I hate to be that guy and I'm entirely sure how forums work but this thread is getting very off topic haha. I'm not trying to be mean but this is a usafa thread so let's try to stay with relevant stuff. I know out mailbox stalking can become tedious and disheartening but it's hard to find relevant information among the random outside topics. Thanks!! :thumb:

Chill, yo. This thread is just a way for us to blow off some steam while we're waiting for any kind of update.

usafa1994, this is the mailbox stalker forum. We all have some pressure and anxiety that we need to valve off. This is why we have this forum because we are all going through this waiting game... TOGETHER. The off topic stuff is to get our minds off spending hours waiting for the mail.

I just want to wish everyone GOOD LUCK, hopefully many of you will be receiving the BFE in the next couple of days!!! I know the waiting seems unbearable, but just think how you will be feeling when you are unable to speak with your DS/DD for a few weeks. I think the unknowing of how they are dealing with Basic Training will be even more unbearable. Again, GOOD LUCK!!!! finger crossed for everyone :thumb:

A man was in his front yard preparing it for Spring when a high school senior came out of the house and went straight to the mailbox, opened it, then slammed it shut, and stormed back in the house. A little later, the senior came out of the house again, went to the mailbox, opened it and slammed it shut again. Angered, the senior again stormed back in the house.

As the man was getting ready to treat the lawn, this person came out yet again, marched to the mailbox, opened it, and then slammed it shut harder than ever.

Puzzled by these actions, the man asked, "Is something wrong?" "There certainly is! My stupid computer keeps giving me a message saying "You've Got Mail!

Tip from last year.

Do NOT scare the mail carrier with your stalking. They will see you by the mailbox and call the police. It is advisable that if you are familiar with your carrier, tell them that you are expecting a BFE from USAFA. They will be better prepared to do their part in delivering the good news.

Last years best stalker: http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=17897&page=88

Scroll down to post # 872. They took a photo of the mail carrier with their older son the previous year.

Hmmm! Might be entertaining to have a BMT cadet parent survivor thread. My DS will be doing his at USNA, but I'm sure they'll have similar "ups and downs," at least in push and pull-ups... I imagine it could get pretty amusing sharing stories once they're through with it.

:lolatyou: Love the joke, USAF463. Thanks for sharing and trying to help us cope with the wait.

Today SMNE :frown: Around 11:00 EDT when all the mail is out at our post office, I called the mail clerk to check (again) and............nothing.

It's still really soooooooooooo quiet on this forum too.

I'm trying to be patient, really, just wondering when will the dam break  this week? next week? the week after? ..... just trying to hang in there and not act too anxious in front of DS.

I'm wondering too. Although DS already knows his destination, we Stalkers have been through a lot of stress together. I'm really anxious for good news for you compatriots. I'll bet when it comes it'll be like a tsunami! No trickling out for USAFA BFE's this year I'll bet!

What is your actual goal? Not to be rude, but there is the Appointment 2016 thread, let's call a spade a spade, skydivingkittens would post on here and the apptmt thread if a BFE or a TWE was in their mailbox.. Rocket scientists need not apply! The premise for this thread is what they find in their mailbox daily. It is bonding and a stress reliever.

I am sorry, but I don't get what you want them to post. Flyer from Wal-Mart? Bills?

What in your perspective is relevant information for a mailbox stalker?

I am not trying to be rude, condescending, mean, etc. I am trying to understand what you "need/desire" as a poster from this thread.

Is it: Nothing in the mailbox and no other comment?

I spent all day yesterday touring the academy and I met with my admissions counselor in person. He told me that the review board was meeting for one last time yesterday to make final decisions so I think we should be seeing the huge rush starting next week! Good luck everyone! :thumb:
