Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

I got a call from my Congressman from MD-5 (Hoyer) that I got an appointment to USAFA. Thanks for the prayers!

I will always remember this day

Very happy for my DS. :shake: His dream came true today at the track meet. The call came in on my phone, it was the Congressman asking for my son. I had to tell Mr Kissell, that he was at the opposite end of the field getting ready to run the 2 mile. I asked if my son could call him right back and he said he might be unavailable as he had to go into a meeting, so I asked him if he could hold on and I would run the phone to my son. He said that would work, so, I ran all the way to the other end of the track with the Congressman hanging on and he could hear me huffing and puffing and squealing like a little girl, I was so excited. He probably thought it was pretty funny, but I really wanted him to tell my son the news he has been waiting so long to hear. So, I run up to my kid and tell him he has an important phone call from Congressman Kissell and his month just drops open and I hand him the phone. It was an amazing moment and he got to share it with all his buds from the track team and several of them are also in his AFJROTC unit and have lived this with him over the last few years. It was so cool. Emotions are going crazy right now. I'm so incredibly proud of my boy. :thumb: Dad is too, but was at work out of town and was the first phone call afterwards.

Congrats. What a great story. Now its time to bubble wrap!

Still praying for all those who are waiting to hear.

Hang in there, it is worth the wait and remember what several others on here have said "it's not over, till it's over".

What could be the reason for the current Falcons to wait untill late April early May?

Typically Falcons are among the last to find out for sure. I think they wait as long as they can just to make sure we don't do something dumb near the end of the process or get bad 2nd semester grades. I couldn't say the real reason though.

howacupcake: guaranteed, no. More or less assured, yes. If we complete all of the requirements in our contract (2.0 GPA, retake all SAT's/ACT's, get another nom, etc etc) then 98% are given appointments. So some aren't but most are. We still worry just as much as any other candidate (or at least I do!)

I'm still sitting here reading the email that was forwarded to me earlier today and still can't believe that this is happening for my son. Emotions have been across both ends of the spectrum. Back at the end of Sept when DS completed application and said now "I wait" we were all really focused on one thing and that was my father-in-law. He had fallen at his place on 9/11/11 (~2000hrs) and we didn't know of it until 0800hrs the next morning. Turns out that from that day forward it was the beginning of the end and he passed away on 1/12/12.

He was a member of the "Greatest Generation" and a survivor of the USS Franklin (March 1945, great read). He was a great inspiration to both of our children and me the jarhead.

Though today's news may seem exciting it is a struggle for DW because as she stated "I haven't gotten over the last one" and now her son is leaving (last child in home) in ~98 days, this is killing her.

USAFA2012mom- CONGRATULATIONS to DS!!!

Congratulations to DS of usafa2012mom:
This is SUCH great news and the best story I have ever heard for the delivery of the GREAT NEWS!!! Our entire family has been laughing at the thought of you running up that field to deliver that phone to your DS. I bet that Congressman will have a great story to tell for a long time to come.
PRAISE GOD for such an awesome answer to prayers!!! We are so thrilled for you and your husband, your DS (of course) and your entire family. Now, you might be able to sleep a bit. Not really!!! Now, we are so excited about the GREAT NEWS for our sons, that we think each day and night about the other wonderful sons and daughters who are awaiting their GREAT NEWS. I am praying daily for all of you. I so much want to hear every one of you post GOOD NEWS to share with all of us. I am so HAPPY for this news!!!:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Congrats!

What a wonderful way to start the day! Congratulations to both usafa2012mom and usmcparent for your DSs appointment to USAFA! Hopefully we'll hear more great news today!

Can't say with any certainty, however with my son, his coach called him. With DD, she got her appointment very late and we found out from her USAFA counselor on May 2nd. If you are hoping the President calls, not sure that is going to happen:shake:. It will likely just be the BFE showing up in the mail. Both kids did receive letters from their MOC congratulating them on appointments but these showed up after the BFE, by several months.

Since the Pres Nom has nothing to do with POTUS I had no expectations of a call. With all the elections/fundraising calls we get I just hope I don't hang up on the wrong person. I'm expecting notification by mail but a call would be nice. :bang:

Congratulations!!

Congratulations to all who received appointments so far!! You are deserving young men and women for sure! :groupwave:

Feeling Anxious?

I'm wanted to share with you what a friend said to me this morning when I was telling him how stressed I was feeling: "No matter how anxious you are, the outcome with be the same. It will all turn out exactly the way it's supposed to be." He's right. I'm carrying that around in my pocket today.

I have been trying to tell myself the same thing for the last couple of days. The problem is my brain is too stubborn to listen. Hang in there, blamblin...you are not alone in Stress City.

sbrandt! congrats your from my district! I just got the call from senator cardin! Im freaking out! my dream of 12 years finally came through! Congrats to all the others and to those that havent heard stay strong!

Thanks

A sincere thank you for the prayers for all of us that are still waiting. It is becoming sooo stressful! DS seems extremely tired, I think it is getting to him now...

Congratulations to all of you new appointees!!!!!!!!

:groupwave::groupwave::groupwave:

I'm glad that so many of you outstanding young people are fulfilling your dreams!

For the rest of you in waiting, don't lose heart, the wave is coming. I spoke to our MOCs Academy rep this morning (I actually had to coordinate with him for something else city related), but I asked about appointments and he told me that they too were waiting. They have heard NOTHING (not a peep) since a single one of their noms was accepted to WP months ago. He stated they had a general time frame (about now) but they were also in the dark and his MOC had been asking about the appointments herself.

SOOOO, HANG IN THERE ALL!!!!!

Best Regards

From what my ALO told me they have still sent out only about half of the acceptances. Hope that helps a little I know its hard to wait. Doubt was starting to creep in. Fight it!

Wow!

Congrats to everyone with good news! Trying not to stress, but find myself holding my breath. DS's portal hasn't changed, so no news is good news I guess. He has noms from all 3 MOCs, plus a Presidential, so we may or may not get a call this week . . . I love uncertainty! But I guess we can wait another week if it means a BFE.

"Hello, President Obama? Yes, I believe my son has a moment to talk to you." Haha! Oh yeah, wake up now!

I'm happy for everyone with good news!

thanks for the laugh!

"Hello, President Obama? Yes, I believe my son has a moment to talk to you." Haha! Oh yeah, wake up now!

This cracked me up...and I needed that laugh! A lot of MD acceptances posted and we are still waiting. DS has senatorial and presidential nom but no news. Not sure if he were to get an appt and it was charged to presidential if the senator would still call because he is on her slate...if that's the case then it's bad news for us. I know God has a plan for DS, I just need to be put out of my misery!!

So happy for all those receiving good news and glad their long wait is over

OOOhhhh! This is going to be an exciting couple of weeks! Congrats to everyone who has gotten the phone calls. I'll bet some BFEs start showing up for those who didn't get calls yet! But...OMG the stress, the waiting! At least the mailboxes are stationary and are easy to stalk. Wow! 10 new appointments on the other thread yesterday. Gotta add Romad's favorite...Tick toc, tick toc...
