Don't forget to add your name to the appointment thread. I received the phone call around 3 this afternoon. See you guys in June. :thumb:

2016 appointee

I've been reading posts on the forum for a couple of weeks or so. It has been so helpful to know that all of us are going through similar emotional roller-coasters. We live in Maine. Our son received a call from the Senator's office on the 22nd of March - the same date of my father's 89th birthday. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in WWII. I took that as a sign. I wish your DS and DD the best on getting their appointments. Thank you all for helping us. Even though I wasn't posting messages, reading posts whether humorous or informational, helped us get through to this point. We are very excited and nervous at the same time.

My school is listed here and I'm fairly certain I am the only one in my class that applied to a service academy yet I'm trying to refrain from bouncing off the walls so I won't get disappointed if it doesn't happen. To make matters worse I received a phone call on Thursday from an unknown number shortly before this press release, however the caller didn't leave a message... I think I might be slowly dying on the inside! :eek:
 
I'm still here... sitting quietly in my corner rocking back and forth...

I had so much anxiety this week watching all the appointments come out that I had to change my email settings so I stopped getting all replies to the threads... I really do need to be distracted more and think less about DS's situation.

My heartfelt CONGRATULATIONS to all who are getting GREAT news!!! As an AF spouse of over 20 years (DH is still AD), I hold the AF in a special place in my heart. (Probably why this is giving me so much anxiety).

I still hold on to the tiniest shred of hope that one day, I will get to post my DS to the "official appointment thread" - until then, I stay here... waiting for some sort of answer.

I've read conflicting things about the selection boards (in this thread), are they final? Do they have one or two more? I'm so confused.

Yes, the finals board met last week and your MOC most likely knows who will be receiving an appointment. However, it is not too early to start worrying because some MOC's won't notify or congratulate their appointees. I assume there will probably be more selection boards for prep and falcon foundation later this spring though. Good luck and stay positive! :thumb:
 
Should I be concerned?

Last week, I mentioned that I talked to an admissions rep (Michelle Hunt) through an online chat session and asked if she could send me another 2011-12 Academic Catalog (I gave the original that was to sent me in October to a classmate who's applying for the c/o 2017). Friday she emailed me back saying "You are very welcome and I will send out a packet of information (with catalog) today."

I don't want to assume that the 'packet' is a BFE, get my hopes up, and then turn around and get a TWE or a QNV within the next two weeks. I have a Congressional nom and a presidential nom, but I have not received the MOC call. Then again, I don't know if he's even going to call.

Has anyone else done something similar and actually recieved a BFE? Rather scared for what's to come this week..

Well, at least you know that you will be getting SOMETHING! I have yet to hear back from admissions or the athletic dept. about an appointment or prep school appointment! Another day of grinding my teeth.... :eek3:

US Air Force Academy (Admissions) Lauri Foster Moden, the Admissions board is working through spring break to get everything done as soon as possible.

So NathanIsaacs, I am not so sure they HAVE had their final board meeting as you stated. Conflicting reports but this is from an Admissions counselor.

I met with my admissions counselor Wednesday and he said that the last board had just met that day. He also said that MOC's will find out later that week to notify candidates and that most BFE's should be sent out within the next two weeks, which is what they will be working on throughout their break. Like I said earlier, I would expect another board though to fill the appointments that are declined along with prep and falcon foundation offers. Good luck!
