Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Many will take offense to that - me included. My DH is an AFROTC SOAR recipient (we had two kids, he was prior enlisted). DH is currently a Major, (LtC board this coming year), B-1 aviator with several combat tours.

AFROTC certainly has it's place and value!

For those of you who really care about serving our Nation, my DH is also an ROTC graduate, had a highly successful career, and retired as an O6 after over 24 years of service. I beg to differ with anyone who downgrades an ROTC commission.

To 2016USAFA, and you don't deserve that call name, the private message you sent me is completely in appropriate:

Every single thing about you, and your every post, makes me want to kill that little runt of a dog of yours. I hope you and your under-qualified failure of a son know that. :):shake:

The first lesson is that nothing on line is private. The second lesson is that you are probably not officer material, and may want to consider another profession.

I'm sorry you did not get your appointment, but it's just not right to take it out on other people. That's not what this forum is about. Please do not send me any more messages -- private or otherwise.

Yup, just got a TWE after school.
Now my plan is to try as hard as I can to avoid using the AFROTC scholarship that I earned. If they didn't want me at the academy, I sure as heck don't want to devote years of my life to a much cheaper and much more useless part of the Air Force (the ROTC).
Cheers

I really hope you don't plan on joining the Air Force. Some of the coolest and most respected officers I have the honor of working with are ROTC graduates. Hell, the ACC Commander General Hostage who has four stars is a ROTC grad. I got to meet the man a few months ago.

The military is NOT for you. That comment is condescending and disrespectful.

Just speaking my mind, people... No offense is being directed to anyone here...
Really, I'm just really disappointed and trying to let off some steam... Or should I stop expressing my emotions as well?:frown:

You need to learn when and how to express your emotions.

The maturity level of the majority of his posts on this forum really speaks for itself, and only serves to validate the Academy's decision.

Yorkiemom, so sorry you were undeservedly on the receiving end of that person's venom. Hopefully one of the moderators will see this and ban her from posting--that's been done in the past and definitely should be done now!

Wow. You apply to USAFA wanting to be an officer in our AF, but as soon as they reject you turn 180 and bash them? You obviously don't have the emotional integrity that makes a USAF Officer...

Unbelieveable!

2016USAFA, you've said an awful lot of things that I think you're going to regret. :frown:

Thanks for being part of this forum, Yorkiemom. I personally can't wait to be an underclassmen to your son--next year hopefully!

We all know what kind of character the USAFA is looking for.

One who exemplifies: "Integrity first, service before self, excellence in all we do."

I would highly suggest we ignore any further posts that are this negative and offensive.
This type of venting should remain private, this is not the venue for this type of public display.

To All,

I just wanted to let you know that the mods are aware of the posts and action will be taken. I am currently at Laughlin AFB visiting my son and only have access through my phone.

One thing that I wanted to address is the posting of private messages in the open forum. I realize that this one was inappropriate, but there is a button to report these to the mods when they occur. I think that we start down a slippery slope if we condone posting private messages into the open forum, regardless of content. it is not something that is tolerated here.

I agree with usafa2012mom. This thread is about mailbox stalkers... not about ranting on how bad 2016USAFA messed up by disrespecting the Air Force.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Truth.

Let's not stoop low. Appologies to our ROTC brethren. We know there is little difference in the source of commissioning, it was you do on the job that defines you. USAFA and ROTC are different routes to the same result and have their pluses and minuses.

These post have to be a joke right? If they are, I am having trouble seeing it. My DS is a proud AROTC scholarship winner and is about to complete his first year. His dream was always Air Force. Unfortunately he didn’t get an AFROTC scholarship but his goal was to serve and he took his Army one. Today he just found out he got a TWE but was QNS last year. But he STILL is doing something so honorable in being commissioned last December. It's not about what school you go to, about what branch you are in, its about the integrity you have in serving something bigger then yourself. Is my DS disappointed in not getting in, of coarse he is, are we disappointed as well, yes. Is he going to throw up his hands and rant like a child, no. So maybe the military isn’t the place for you if this is how you feel, no dishonor in you saying that you aren’t going to go into it because the Air Force Academy said no. But make way for others who want the scholarship you were offered. If your not 200% into it when you joining ROTC they are going to know and you aren’t going to last IMHO. Good luck.

I would really appreciate to hear if any Falcon Foundation scholarship recipients have gotten a thumbs up or thumbs down yet from the academy. My son was a Falcon at Northwestern Prep and loved the experience. But he is still waiting for his envelope/web page update/phone call....and it is April 9th already...

Falcon scholarship winners are considered separately (later this month).

We heard Falcon apps go before the Board on April 25.

Just to make sure, there isn't a separate application I need to fill out to be eligible for this correct? They will use my application to USAFA?

Correct. There is no separate application. Falcon scholarship awardees are selected out of the pool of candidates that are qualified but did not receive an appointment.

DS finally came home from school... gave him the TWE. He's very thankful for his Plan B. I asked him if he planned on re-applying he said with enthusiasm "ABSOLUTELY".
