Class of 2016-Mailbox Stalkers Club

Thanks, bornot! Hope to meet your son next year!
Yes, here's hoping you will both get appointments to the Class of 2017! I have followed your posts since the beginning of the year and always admired your positive attitude. Keep up the good work and stay in touch!

Right back at ya! I'll be sure to keep updating this coming year.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that "Insider" might be reading posts and chooses to give a little extra nudge for prep spots to those that he/she feels have a great attitude on this site?

That doesn't seem fair for you to suggest. I have worked very hard to get where I am today.

I am sorry if it came off in the wrong way. I didn't mean it negatively at all; I meant it as a positive testament to you and others. What I was saying that there are some great candidates that didn't make the initial cut and based on how professional, well written, well thought and dedicated several candidates on this board presented themselves (you included) Insider "might" have given notice to how great of officer material you were and he/she didn't want to loose you. It could have served as an additional bit of help to get a prep spot. I actually hope that was the case.

I also could be 100% wrong. It wouldn't be the first (not the last) time.

I have been told that athletes will be the last to find out about appointments. My admissions counselor said that recruited athletes could get appointments up until a week out from I-Day. My question is... how will they have enough time to do all the paperwork and send it in before I-Day?

In the distant past, a few appointees were notified right before I-Day. If you receive an appointment the week before I-Day, I doubt you will even get all the paperwork before I-Day. My DS received his appointment notification on May 1 and has yet to receive the second BFE with all its forms.

I just hope you receive an appointment. If it comes right before I-Day, AFA will work with you on the forms. Don't stress paperwork at this point.

This year's admission process has been different from recent past years. So it would not surprise me at all to see appointments going out the week before I-Day. People in the know said it was going to be a wild ride this year . . .

I apologize billy! I took your comment the wrong way.

and SDK, I still have my fingers crossed for you! Keep the faith!

Haleym, congratulations! This is great to hear. You deserve it now go have a fantastic year and prepare.

Bill

Hello everyone...

Just an update on my situation. I don't know if it can be considered an oddity with this year's process, but I have yet to hear anything from the AFA. The post a few notches up said athletes could hear anywhere up to a week before I-day. I'm not a recruited athlete, but it is kind of unsettling to hear that I may be waiting even into June to hear from them. The only reason I believe it might be taking longer in my case is because the Academy is figuring out whether or not they will grant me one of the few medical waivers. I have been completely compliant with all requests up to this point and I've discussed the situation with my ALO several times. This forum has given me some insight and encouragement; and I am certainly thankful for that. I'm still hoping and I know God must be teaching me something in all of this. If anyone has more insight into what is going on within the admissions board now, feel free to PM me or post a reply. Thanks!

Athlete waiting

I am in the candidate complete status on line. I was fortunate enough to be given a retest on my CFA due to letters from both my Lacrosse and Football coaches stating I tested injured on the first test. I believe in always giving my best and playing thru the pain if needed. That is why I have 4 letters as defensive line man and 4 letters as a defense man in Lacrosse. I want to be a part of the greatest team I know, the U.S. Air Force Academy and be a leader in the the U.S. Air Force. I intend to major in Physics and Aeronautical Engineering and there is no better place then the academy to make that dream a reality. I am waiting and waiting for a BFE or a other good news since I aced the retest on the CFA. This waiting is a real test ones patience but I know what I want. I just want to put this out there for others that may be in the same boat. Hang in there. The waiting is the hardest part. Hands in the air for class of 2016!
