Class of 2020 USNA Appointment Thread

Appointments happen on a weekly basis...just check the trickle of postings that come in. This isn't new to any current or previous admissions cycle. They might be a little more frequent this time of year since slates can start to be determined. Apparently, turndown notices are going to be more of a "weekly" thing. In the past, turndowns were typically sent in large waves and the impression I am getting from this year's notification method is that they are going to be sent out more frequently, but in smaller waves.
 
A great source for finding out if appointments have been made for your state are the websites for your congressmen and senators. Ours does press releases as soon as appointments are confirmed. Found 4 tonight that weren't on this list...

Only one of our senators does a press release, not the other senator and not the MOC. And, the senator that does release only releases name of those appointed, not nominated. No such luck for us - just waiting!

Have you heard of any TWE's going out yet?
 
Did everyone here that were appointed with the status "Congressional Nomination, Senatorial Nomination" win in a competitive slate? or are they principle nominees?
 
I haven't seen them personally, but Admissions is starting to send them out.

o_O, there isn't really a definitive way to tell....unless the MOC knows and told the candidate and I don't think you are asking for everyone to post a response...I'm not sure what information you are trying to gain. Also, I believe USNA notifies a MOC even if the charged source isn't from them and the appointment was offered AFTER the slate(s) were submitted....point being is that a candidate might think their appointment originated from a MOC, even though it actually didn't. Furthermore, the charged source can change throughout the admissions cycle.

LOL! Congratulations to your DS. I would imagine a big shout of joy! Each time a neighbor asks if we heard anything I assure them they will HEAR when it happens because of the shouting or the really loud playing of Anchors Aweigh from our household.... flying the Navy flag high! So happy for you and for your son. Congrats!
 
Has anyone been appointed with a single congressional nomination and no LOA? I feel like everyone on this forum has either a double-nom or an LOA and it's kind of discouraging.
 
I was appointed with a single congressional nomination and no LOA, and so have several others. I think it's just that in Nov, Dec, and Jan, most of the appointments were to people with LOA's, while a few went to people with no LOA.

This was the case with me; only received my Congressman's nomination, and just got extremely lucky.

Don't get discouraged! Worrying about it won't change admissions mind - just sit back, relax and let the pieces fall as they may; everything will work out in the end!
