Ummm... it's the military. It's a UCMJ offense to deny coffee to service members. I think. If it isn't, it should be. That was the worst torture at SERE. No coffee and the interrogator drinking coffee in front of me. And putting the cup right under my nose. In the middle of January.
Whenever I flew missions into Iraq my bug out bag had a small propane stove, my French press, a hand grinder, and some beans. If I was shot down and survived I WOULD have coffee.
