I am having a serious dilemma right now. I was given a nomination in November by my local MOC. Two people from my congressional district have gained appointments to the Academy. I have not yet closed my file due to low CFA scores. However, I will have them in on Wednesday. As I understand it, only five cadets per congressional district are allowed to attend the academy at one time. So my question is, do I even have a chance of gaining an appointment? Please help I am freaking out.

You're confused. Each appointment gets slotted to a nomination. A congressman can have 5 people who were slotted to him. There may be many more people that he nominated attending the academy who were slotted to other nominations. It ain't over yet. Even if one of them has been slotted to your congressman you could still be selected off the national waiting list.

Depends on the district our FFR said he expects 4-5 kids from this district to get appointments. He also said there were some MOCs in the city of Chicago that in the past did not even nominate kids. Good luck!

    Sad

Isn't it kind of sad that some Districts don't have a single qualified candidate? It seems like that would be a wake up call for a Congressperson.

Not all MOC are supportive of the military or the SAs. With 9/11 there was some peer pressure to support the military, but there are still a few out there who either will not nominate, or don't have anyone to nominate and won't make an effort to change that.
