You can contact your BGO but there's no need to at this point unless you have specific questions about the application process, etc. Also, BGOs won't have access to any information on rising seniors until June 1 so the BGO is somewhat operating in the blind at this point.

I suggest you attend NASS, get your application at least 50% complete and then, if you haven't heard from your BGO at that point, reach out to him/her. As noted, if you have questions, then you should ask him/her when those arise.

There's no reason you can't contact your BGO now. If you want to do it, then do it. However, the better way to show initiative is to get your application completed as soon as reasonable practical.

I've already contacted my BGO and I'm in 9th grade. As long as you have serious questions regarding the Academy I'm sure your BGO wouldn't mind. He/she might also appreciate your initiative to contact him/her early on in the applications process.

As a BGO, I do not mind any high-school student contacting me and asking for guidance. That's what we are here for. However, that guidance will be simple. Focus on school, STEM courses, join and athletic team, etc. For the seniors applying to the Academy, as 1985 stated the key is focusing on your application and working your way through the application process. My personal rule of thumb is, I'm happy to talk to you and provide advice and information at any time in the process. However, I will not interview an applicant until their application is more than 50% complete. An applicant needs to show me they are serious or they are wasting my time and ultimately the Academy's.
