Could I get in trouble for this "Promposal" idea?

I am a current high school senior and have an appointment. My high school prom is in a little over a month. My school is hosting a track invite this weekend and a good amount of schools will be in attendance. I used to run track and ran at this invite for the past 3 years so I am familiar with the schools that usually attend, my school's coaches, and the members of the team. Long story short I'm down tremendously lol and am thinking of going for a hail mary.

I am thinking of going to track invite with a "Prom?" sign (or something of the sort) and just simply stand around and see if anyone is interested lol. What I was wondering is would this get me in trouble with my school or the academy? The last thing I want is to get in any trouble and my appointment rescinded when my intentions are pure and harmless.

Thanks in advance.

It is my experience that if you have to ask the question, you already know the answer.

Define “with a Prom” for me? …. Please don’t draw some kind of silly attention to yourself at a track invite.

You can do the pre-graduation Senior prank thing as long as it is safe and doesn’t harm property …

We dressed Goats in our HS mascot costumes and lifted them to the roof of the HS …. They found a way down safely …

I don’t see any way this could possibly get you in trouble, what could the academy possibly see so harmful that they would revoke their appointment just for walking around with a prom sign?

Also update me if this promposal turns out successful lol

Sorry I meant "Prom?" sign

Why would you get in trouble for this? Good luck, let us know how it goes.
That's what part of me thinks but the other part worries about embarrassment, humiliation, or maybe my former track coach comes and boots me or maybe a parent gets angry with me and I get in trouble with the school. I really don't know!

Just do it bro, if you want to, is this for a video or something? If not you should record it and see if you get any takers. I don’t see any way this can go wrong unless you’re 18 and talking to freshmen.

Haha no definitely not for a video. I don't even know how I would record myself doing this it would make for a good video though 🤔

Zero chance this affects anything with your appointment. Just your school’s code of conduct. Embarrassment and humiliation are definite possibilities, but if this is what you wanna do, don’t let that stop you.

It's probably harmless. Nobody is going to go out of their way to try and get USNA to revoke your appointment. Nothing wrong with asking someone to go to prom with you. It might be a little weird asking people you don't know (I'd never do this personally), but as long as you don't harass the girls, then you'll be fine. That said, it isn't necessarily the best look to refer to your appointment or connection with the Navy/USNA.

How would this violate a school's code of conduct?

It'd be funny to have your friends filming you and watching you strike out or pretty cool if it works out for you. That said, keep it off social media if you choose to do a video. Keeping the lowest profile possible before I-Day helps you stay under the radar initially. Detailers know which Plebes they will detail, so they are probably looking at your online presence.

Absolutely no harassing lol, I just plan on standing there. Maybe walk around a little and look around.

hmmmm it seems you have an appointment but no prom date and I have a prom date but no appointment...

switch?

Just keep in mind people are there to compete. Asking for a prom date is an innocent question, but if you go out seeking people out while they are trying to get ready/recover, then the athletes/coaches might take exception your actions.

Yeah I second this, I posted a video where I copied a famous TikTok creator’s “POV: I’m your shampoo” video and because my mid during inspire had my number saved he found it on tiktok. He mentioned it to me during NASS and said he found it in good taste. But if I end up going to usna I imagine they have some good ammunition already for plebe summer 😂.

Absolutely, as someone who competed in track many times I understand that. I think I will email my coach and ask him if I can do this, if I get his blessing well then YOLO I graduate soon anyways lol.

I would recommend it personally. Surely someone there would want a date. Also, you could put an asterisk on it and at the bottom say, in very tiny letters, "My views do not represent those of the United States Government, United States Naval Academy, the United States Navy, and other affiliated entities." This would help you to mitigate any possible risks. Go get a cute date bro! Betting on you.
