This is going to seem silly, but I am confused about who my junior can request a nomination from. We live in Dallas. Can anyone help?

    For starters

    1) Senator Cruz - http://www.cruz.senate.gov/?p=student_resources
    2) Senator Cornyn - http://www.cornyn.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?p=helping-you-service-academies
    3) Vice President - https://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/vice-president-biden/academy-nominations

Now, who is your US Congressman? What part of Dallas do you live in?

    4) US Congressman ___________

Go to the map at the bottom of this link and zoom in until you see your part of town. That will tell you what congressional district you are in and to which Congressman your child needs to apply for a nomination.

For the Merchant Marine Academy it is both Senators and any state Representative but not Pres or Vice Pres

That is interesting Swab. I knew you could apply to all of the congressmen, but didn't know that there was no Pres or VP nomination.

    Iwolfe,

This is meant with kindness, but let your child do the research. I get doing the shadowing, but ALOs, BGOs and FFRs will interview your child. They want to see how bad they want it and how self sufficient they are regarding this appointment process. They want to make sure this is not Mom/Dad pushing it. Additionally, as soon as they turn 18, you will be locked out because as the military sees it, they are legally an adult.

I do understand that you probably just want to educate yourself, but there is a fine line that is easily crossed over.
