Has it occurred to anyone else that we should just make all presidential candidates go through DoDMERB? But, I mean including with penalties for withholding or misrepresenting information. What say you SAF? Seems like presidential candidates should at least meet the same qualifications as future officers, with some concession to the fact that it is for the most part a desk job.
Negative.
Abe Lincoln would be disqualified for suffering from depression.
US Grant was a chronic alcoholic & probably already had pre-diagnosed cancer from cigars when he took the oath.
William Howard Taft weighed like 350 pounds. Got stuck in a White House tub.
Teddy Roosevelt was probably bipolar, had terrible eyesight & was a nut.
Franklin Roosevelt was in a wheelchair & drank cocktails from noon till bedtime.
Eisenhower smoked four packs a day, had two heart attacks & strokes while in office.
John F Kennedy was an absolute physical wreck.
LBJ & Nixon were both probably manic depressives, too.
On the other hand, Jimmy Carter & George W Bush didn't drink, some, swear & went to church like 12 times a day. Didn't help. Frankly, I'd have preferred Ike or JFK.
Bob Dole & John McCain didn't get elected but their physicals certainly would have noted their obvious war-related limitations.
