Hey everyone, I recently went in for my DODMERB medical physical to contract into the AROTC program at my school. They gave me the urinalysis towards the end, and I was wondering what exactly that was testing for?

I see on the sheet it says Blood/Protein/Sugar, and then in the box under that it says "Other tests".

Is it a drug screening for Recreational Illegal drugs like they did to me at MEPS? Or is it a standard Physical Urine test to see if there is anything wrong with my kidneys?

Not that it matters, I haven't ever done drugs except drink a little alcohol in my youth and that wasn't anything, just curiosity on what they are testing for!

    Thanks everyone, GOARMY HOOAH!:thumb:

It's just to see how much protein you have. The first time I took the dodmerb physical I had a remedial and had to take the urine test again because I had too much protein, that next time I was fine.

Hey, thanks for the swift reply! I thought that was all they were testing for, but I was just curios to see what extent the Urinalysis went to! :thumb:

The Medical Officer at USNA recommended that candidates not work out strenuously the day before their DODMERB physical as this can cause higher than usual protein in the urine which, in turn, will require a remedial. It's not a huge deal. But, if you can go easy on your workouts the day before, you may save yourself another trip to the MD's and some heartache.

Like to the point where my pee is clear? Or will that cause a problem on the test? I normally drink a gallon+ of water a day, so my pee is mostly Clear all through the day.

I don't know if that will pose a problem. :thumb:

They are testing to see if there is protein in your urine and other things (but not drugs). I also recommend that you do not work out for at least 24 hours before you test. That may cause an abnormal protein result and you will have to repeat the test. Best wishes. :thumb:

I just had this physical for NROTC. I was under the assumption it did test for drugs. I passed!

Were you watched when you peed in the cup?

If not, I am going to assume it wasn't for drugs.

Also, Larry Mullen has stated on different occasions, that the DODMERB is not testing for drugs, and he is/was the deputy director of the DODMERB.

I am going to go off of what he say's!
