Does acceptance to Summer Seminar have any impact on application?

Our son went to SS but failed to mention applying for it and attending it on a nomination application and during a nomination interview. We came to learn afterwards that the panel evaluated him slightly negatively on that point, perhaps feeling that he must not have been very serious about the Academy if he didn't go to Summer Seminar (and perhaps not apply). It was not outcome determinative for him, but SS is important to the process.

Unfortunately, many on MOC panels don't understand what the purpose of NASS is.

That could be true. Unfortunate. The summer programs (at least at USCGA & Navy are very limited in size). The SA's appear to have different reasons for accepting candidates into those programs.

I didn’t get into summer seminar my junior year and got an loa in October senior year don’t worry about it

Yes, thats unfortunate. It should have been a topic of discussion. It should also be listed on his resume. Showing interest in the USNA is a key factor.
