Does the Army do upgrades to the scholarship?

My son received a 3 year scholarship during the recent (second) AROTC board. He returned the letter to Cadet Command with his acceptance within the 30 day window. He waited patiently until his college of choice FINALLY accepted him. Today, just for grins, I peeked at his AROTC scholarship application web site. It now shows his winner status as "4 year scholarship winner". Does the Army re-evaluate awards and subsequently upgrade some of them prior to reporting on campus for the freshman year? Or, is this a deceiving glitch in the web site? (Fingers are crossed hoping this is an upgrade of some type.)

The only way to be sure on that one is to contact cadet command.

Hmm, this is the first time I've heard of one being upgraded in the system, instead of upgrading once on campus (though that doesn't mean a whole lot :shake:) But you really should contact CC or the ROO at your DS school to know for sure.

Also, I assume you haven't received anything by snail mail, but have you checked under uploaded docs on the portal to see if perhaps another letter with the change was issued to your DS?

Remember, the scholarship agreement he signed was for a 3yr, not 4yr, award. So, if you find it isn't a glitch you may want to ask for a new scholarship award to be sent indicating the new 4yr award, just to be on the safe side :thumb:.

ROO just advised they DID, in-fact upgrade him. The good news letter should already be in snail mail.

So.... To all you 1st and 2nd AROTC board "3 year winners"... check the web site. Your status may have changed for the better!

ABF, when you checked the scholarship site, which one was it? Was it just the status site? (my DS's schol has been showing there - at the "status" site ever since we designated a school after the 2nd board - but that page doesn't show the # of years for schol - he did receive a 4-yr - that was on his letter). I cannot get into the old scholarship application site - that just comes up with a message about applications for 2015-2016 school year will be up later...

    just curious

It was listed on the web site where he filled out the application and uploaded documents.

On the page where you were (where it talked about the 2015-2016 application being available later), there's a small link near the bottom that says something like 2014-2015....

Click on that and you can get back into DS portal.

My DS was award a 3yr AD, site now says 4yr next to his school choice. Called Cadet Command and they said yes indeed it had been upgraded, letter was mailed out and should be received in the next day or two. What a great surprise!

4 year scholarship upgrade too! I checked with the ROO at my school and it is indeed legitimate. I don't have any new paperwork or anything in the site it just says 4 year AD and my school in the selection status page where it used to say 3year.

Wow, upgrades in late March? That's fantastic. CC just gifted (not adjusted for financial aid) $14,000 to each of those families.

    DS Scholarship upgraded, too!

After reading this thread, I decided to check on my DS' scholarship status... he was also awarded a 3AD AROTC scholarship which he accepted for TAMU. Tonight I checked his application status online and it now says "4-Year Scholarship...Accepted Texas A&M University" ... WOW!! We emailed TAMU for confirmation.
