Dropped from USMC DEP to go to a CC

I requested to be dropped from the DEP, because I spoke with a USMC Captain (USNA Grad) about what I wanted to do. I told him that I wanted to attend the USNA, he suggested I get out of the DEP and go to college instead if the academy is where I really want to go. He pretty much said what a lot of people here say.

Is getting out of the Delayed Entry Program looked at in a bad way by the SA's and SMC's?
