The first phase is 3/c's, second phase 3/c's then the swabs take over in Miami. I guess they will fly the kids down there. Each swab phase(three in all) is on Eagle for seven days. The 3c's about five-six weeks each.

Ha ha believe it or not some civilians do go on these cruises. Included are parents of the 1c cadre as well as some CG auxiliarists and various other big shots. So it's not beyond the realm of possibility. When my son's a 1/c I am going to apply!:jump1:

    :thumb: Thanks Boss!
Looks like a road trip maybe in order - maybe to Norfolk. I would love to see it again. The best part is interrogating all the swabbies! :shake:
Listening to them repeat "I don't know, ma'am"! :yllol:
Seriously, anyone who is nearby should NOT pass up an opportunity to check out the Eagle. This year I want to see it come sailing into port!

LOL Yes indeed, Brunswick would be do-able. Over the last two years, (Boss can back me on this) every time a tall ship or the Kings Pointer comes near, every incident known to mankind has befallen me on the very dates the ships are around. I think somebody put the voodoo on me. I'm gonna go see a Witch Doctor & get this gris gris removed. Would LOVE to see the Eagle over all of them.

Just a mom they are "swabs" not "swabbies"

Remember they have been on the ship about a day when you see them in port so they are not "experts" :thumb:

JM I command you to get to Brunswick...

So Jamzmom, make plans for one of the foreign ports then when that falls through you can get to Brunswick! I do hope you get there.

When will the swabs know which week they will be on Eagle? Will there be enough time for them to let us know via snail mail so we might plan a trip to tour while they are on-board.

I happened to be looking at cruise line schedules after I saw this thread, and found an Eastern Carribean cruise leaving NYC on June 12, and docking in San Juan on the 15th, the same day as the Eagle! Wouldn't that be fun for a parent to take a vacation and meet up with your son/daughter for dinner in San Juan!

It depends what company they get.

    First phase: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie

    Second phase:Delta, Echo, Foxtrot

    Third Phase:Golf and Hotel

You usually find out your company in advance of R-day so you might be able to plan accordingly.

    Boss,
I'm going up to New London next week. Is it possible to tour the Eagle at the dock?

I believe so. It is docked at Ft. Trumbull which is the future site of the Coast Guard Museum. It used to be docked right at the Academy but 1)the masts always have to be lowered to get under the Key Bridge and 2)it is part of the deal to get the museum located in New London that they have to dock her at the fort.

Anyway, I will try to get the visiting hours for you.

    Here we go:

When in port, the tall ship Eagle is open for tours from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Yes Lesya one week in total. BTW good to see you back on. :thumb:

The actual sailing is about four days with three days in port, part of which you get liberty. They have some nice ports this year especially for the 3c's.
