Happy Cinco de Mayo all, hope everyone's day is going well. Just had a quick question for anyone currently enlisted or was prior enlisted before the Academy.

How long before I-day will my orders be posted? Also, since this will be my first PCS, I'm new to how orders work, where would I even find them? Will I be able to take some leave before reporting for I-day? If there is anyone out there who is also currently enlisted reporting to the academy, have you received orders yet?

    Thanks a ton!

Your orders will be very specific. They will tell you when to detach, when and where to report, how many travel days you are authorized, and if you are authorized any leave enroute.
If you are on a base, your friendly neighborhood admin enlisted personnel, your chief petty officer or other senior NCO, can help you decipher your orders. If you are in a school pipeline, there will be an admin office. There may be other special instructions or entitlements included. The orders are the basis on which your travel will be set up.

There is always that first real set of orders for uniformed people, and there should be shipmates around to help you through them. Don't guess at anything, ask.

It can vary when you receive them. Make friends at the admin shop to learn how orders come in.

My DS has not received his orders as of yet. He has been told that he will have them by the middle of this month.

Oh - and it doesn't hurt to stop by base medical clinic or whoever tracks your immunizations, and ensure you are current. Saves shots on I-Day.

Your best bet is to talk to a NC or PS. NC might be a little more knowledgeable.

NSIPS has orders posted to it (https://nsipsprod.nmci.navy.mil/nsipsclo/jsp/index.jsp), at least for officers (but I presume that enlisted have this capability, as well), under "Professional History" section. You need your CAC card (choose non-email certificate to log in) and if this is your first time, you need to click the new user link (should be colored in green) to register.

Thanks to everyone for your responses, much appreciated. Capt MJ, one of the perks of being a Corpsman and working in the hospital is that I don't have to go too far for those shots. Hehe
Thank you as well usnabgo, that's where I've been checking, but wasn't sure if they were found somewhere else first.

The advice about the shots is experience from years of PCSing. Invariably, I would be checking out at my command and around base, figure on a quick stop at Medical, only to be told by the smiling corpsman, "oh, ma'am, you are overdue for yellow fever and Tdap and whatever, we can't check you out until you get those." Nothing like a long drive with two sore arms.

Any word for anyone yet? I'm still waiting on orders from the fleet directly to USNA.

I've heard PT gear from a Corpsman at the clinic there. Did you get your orders on Friday as well?

Cross-check for the authentic gouge on what to wear when reporting in from the chief at Admissions. It can't hurt. A Corpsman at Brigade Medical Clinic may not be your best source for what is expected.
It is very informal, the quiet gathering in of those reporting in advance of the masses on 1 July, and not quite the same as formally reporting aboard at your new duty station quarterdeck afloat or ashore in the Uniform of the Day.

Capt MJ saving the day, would've been funny to report in PT gear. The Chief at admissions says dress whites.

Always better to be in those sharp whites and making a great first impression. I expect you get a lot of your issue gear, possibly some PT gear, while doing advance check-in. You will be all settled in and ahead of the game when the high school crowd shows up. You will quickly make friends when you become the resident expert in shoe shining, bed making, gear stowage, Navy lingo, etc.
Glad you checked with "The Chief," something we all know is the smart thing to do.

Same here. What time are the rest of the enlisted folk planning on reporting to NAPS?
