Just a random question if any of you had to take leave on the days you scheduled your SAT/ACT tests or if your commander let you take the time needed & come to work after?
The SAT is normally taken on a Saturday. I took it through DANTES as well, but that one was on a thursday. My shop didn't require me to take leave. Also, I read your post in the other thread about the SAT/ACT. When I first applied, my combined math and verbal were just barely above the minimum guidelines for prep school. After taking the SAT twice in January, I improved my scores by 300 points, which put me above the AFA average SAT scores! (Probably a major factor in me receiving a direct appointment). If I could give you some solid advice, treat all the averages as the minimum! You can do it!
House said a couple people from his LEAD DVP trip got prep school invites, and 1 person from my trip has gotten one that I know of. My ACT was 26 overall, and average scores for fitness, and my commander was a professor for the CompSci department at USAFA, so he put in a good word.Received my notification that I wasn't accepted fro direct entry for the class of 2017 have any lead applicants received invitations to the prep school yet?
and just out of curiosity what are your act/sat scores I scored a 24 "ACT" overall and have a pretty solid fitness score and recommendations do I stand a chance?

Yep! That's right! Two Airmen from my DVP trip received appointments to the prep school; one was a recruited basketball player. Hang in there!
The slots designated to the LEAD program are not mandated to be used as LEAD slots at all. The Academy can choose to appoint up to 85 from active duty.
Basically, it is the Academy's prerogative to appoint LEAD candidates. The slots could easily go to civilians or be practically nixed altogther(which is probably what happened last year since the class was so small).
What I'm curious about is what are the stats on the Airmen who have recieved appointments, as far as SAT/ACT scores, # LOR's etc?
I'm applying and just trying to see how I compare
I'v never seen any isolated averages for the LEAD program. I was told that with an SAT scroe about 1800, you should be looking pretty good.
The minimums directly from the LEAD candidate pamphlet can be found here:
Guidelines:
Guidelines for Direct Appt: SAT Verbal 580 and SAT Math 560. ACT English 24, Reading 24, Math 25, and Science Reasoning 25. Top 20% of high school class or about a 3.50 GPA if school does not rank. Candidates should have taken a college preparatory curriculum in high school which included mathematics through pre-calculus and should have also taken a high school chemistry course. College work at the community college level or higher which makes up for missed high school curriculum can compensate for some weakness in the high school record and will be considered. See the admissions website at url for more information on suggested college preparatory curriculum.
Guidelines for Preparatory School Appt: SAT Verbal 480 and SAT Math 500. ACT English 20, Reading 20, Math 20, and Science Reasoning 20. Top 40% of high school class or about a 2.70 GPA if school does not rank. Candidates should have taken a college preparatory curriculum in high school which included mathematics through algebra II. Pre-calculus and a high school chemistry course are strongly encouraged. College work at the community college level or higher can compensate for some weakness in the high school record and will be considered. Candidates should consider taking math and science (with a lab) courses. The time since high school graduation and whether an airman is currently taking or has taken college level courses will also be evaluated in determining suitability for direct entry to the Academy or entry to the Preparatory School.
I have no clue, admissions has been hush hush on when airmen will hear back. I'm really hoping they don't do it last minute, because outprocessing my base takes a couple of weeks.
