A senior that I considered a good mentor commissioned into the Ordinance Corps and was selected for EOD, from what he told me a cadet signs paperwork similar to an ADSO that ensures both branching into Ordinance and EOD Officer (only Ordinance officers can be EOD officers for those curious) selection.....is this actually how it works, for those with knowledge on the topic? Seems like a unique and interesting system....

As far as I know, there are two ways to get EOD.

1) At LDAC, go talk to the Ordinance branch guys during your branch orientation day. They have a test that you can take there to see if you qualify. I'm not sure if passing this test will lock you into the school or not, but it is something that many cadets aren't aware of that's at LDAC.

2) At Ordinance BOLC, they will offer a chance to go EOD. I have a friend who did this, and apparently they took the aptitude test and had to do well on PT. Anyway, if you get selected, they put it on your orders as a follow-on school after BOLC.

My friend is in the last phase of EOD school now, and he's loving every minute of it. From what I hear, it's quite challenging, but a fun school and worth every minute if you're willing to work hard for it.

Thanks!!!! This is definitely something I'm interested in, the only caveat being that I don't plan on putting Ordinance very high on my dream sheet, but if there was a way to secure a slot as an EOD officer I'd definitely consider the opportunity......one of my good friend's father spent his Army career as an EOD officer and won't shut up about how awesome it was, it's definitely an Army community I'd join.

If you really want EOD take Chem. Eng. and they will almost beg you to sign up. Especially if you do it as a Golden Knight right Clarkson! :thumb:
