    Technically speaking, how important are the candidate statements? Will they account for a huge portion of the admission process. Will admissions deduct points on grammar?

    They don't count for anything in terms of the WCS but it could raise some red flags, say, if you said you wanted to go to USMA primarily for the free education or whatever. Since there's no effect on the WCS, no points will be deducted but it's best to be as concise, clear, and grammatically correct as possible.

    I find it ironic that you made a grammatical error (you ended a question with a period) right before you asked if points would be deducted for grammar.

    For the class of 2020 the essays had no bearing on WCS. I cannot speak for the class of 2021.
