Whew, what a rollercoaster ride!!!
After dreaming of attending the Naval Academy all his life my son finally applied last fall. He's doing extremely well in school and athletics and we all thought he had a good chance.
Well, that dream came to an abrupt end when he received the letter from our congressman. No nomination!!! We live in Southern California and heard that it was pretty competitive here, but still my son felt like the rug had been pulled out from underneath him.
To rub salt on open wounds he had the interview with his BGO the next day, and you can imagine that the atmosphere was a bit dampened. Strangely the BGO ended up on the note "strange things can happen".
And so, several weeks later, a strange thing did happen: the congressman had a change of heart and nominated my son after all. Now the mad rush to complete the application (he still needed to get his CFA done and sent in).
Today we received a thin letter. Oh no!!! But what a surprise, it said my son is guaranteed an appointment if all required documentation is handed in They must have reviewed him before the CFA results arrived.
The excitement in our house is off the charts
