My DS had his physical and eye exams one day apart, and his status in DoDMETS showed closed yesterday -> went over to DoDMERB and saw that he has a pending DQ and they want remedials for 2 issues (none of them vision). That is all in the works, but no where in this process does he have any results posted or mention of the eye exam. If he had the CIV team evaluate his records and send onto DoDMERB, does that include the eye portion? Wondering if that is something he'll need to be on the lookout for. His vision is fine, but some of the color plates were hard for him. I figured he'd hear something about that? Thanks in advance for anyone who has experienced this and can help out with an answer.

Yes, they are processed as a 'set' (medical and eyes) so you should be in good shape. Color blindness is determined by another test as the 'plates' are just a simple filter to validate color sight so you son is fine there too. (I am color blind so I am very familiar with the testing)

Best of luck with the rest of the application process!

Almost always, the DoDMERB will get both the physical and eye exams to review at the same. There is the rare occasion when the physical exam will come in but not the eye exam. DoDMERB will continue to ask the contractor to send over the eye exam. If, for some reason, the eye exam hasn't been sent and it's been a while, then DoDMERB will go ahead and review the physical exam alone and review the eye exam later when it does eventually show up.

Most likely, the physical and eye exams for your DS were reviewed at the same time.

If your DS got asked to produce remedials and none for vision, then it's a reasonable assumption that he did fine on the eye exam.

For color vision, only the sea services and Army care about it. If you fail the color vision portion, then you'll be DQ for any of the sea services. For the Army, if you fail the the color vision with the pseudoisochromatic plates, then further testing is done to see if you can distinguish vivid red/vivid green. If you can distinguish vivid red/vivid green, then you are qualified from the Army standpoint.
