Good evening,
If my eyes are correctable to 20/40, but my uncorrected eyes are worse than 8.00 diopters, what are the chances for getting a waiver (is it even possible)? I am not planning on being a pilot.
Disqualification regulation:
"Current refractive error (hyperopia, myopia, astigmatism) in excess of -8.00 or +8.00 diopters spherical equivalent or astigmatism in excess of 3.00 diopters"
Thank you!

DD just cleared waivers for this. Was pretty easy once we knew what the AMIs we needed to ask our optometrist to retest for. I understand they were concerned about detached retinas and holes in the optic nerves. Our daughter's eyes were healthy; just a high Rx.

Her eyes are correctible to 20/20 in glasses and better than 20/20 in contacts.

Good luck!!!
