I hear ya....but it's also important to work Plan B, C, D, E.....at the same time.
My son was a good candidate (not great, but good) as a HS senior...competitive package but not selected. He pressed on. Went to his freshman year as a college programmer. Busted his hump and was fortunate to have selected this year on the first board.
Point of that is not to humble brag, but to say that "no"...really means "not right now"...and there are many ways to earn a commission...
