What are some of the best techniques for studying for exams? This video starts with some unusual techniques:

Reminds me of finals last year. I, the Biochemistry major hunkering down and studying every night, and my interdisciplinary studies major roommate coming back from the bar each night. :bang:

And before the +/- era in grading, calculating what you needed on the final to get X grade so you knew what finals to actually study for.
In college and grad school, I always knew exactly the score on a Test that I wanted/needed...I note now teaching college level-this is often not the case.

My friends and I ironically felt that finals week was the least stressful part of the semester. No formations, no mandatory events, no class. Just wake up for an exam, work out, get lunch, study for a couple hours then relax or go out on liberty. And you can feel the mids’ excitement for their leave plans (or if they’re lucky, for graduating).

Every single convo I had with my boys about finals involved this. At first it drove me nuts. Eventually I realized how brilliant it was. And that I wasn’t smart enough to do it, or even think of it 😂😂

Yes, it can be a great strategy. In business we set targets and measure our progress to those targets. Test grades are both a leading and a lagging indicator.

I knew it down to the number of questions on each section of the final.
I even showed my hs kid this spring how one bad hw grade in first grading period cost him a whole letter due to rounding and weighting. Apparently i have three eyes the way he was looking at me.

My son just graduated from high school in June and was riding into the last month of school with a couple of B's. He had all A's for his entire high school career. DW was telling him he will someday regret not just punching out straight A's. He did the exact minimum required to get those A's and was texting a bunch of smack talk during graduation when he appeared on the list of Valedictorians.
