I am a current junior and I was wondering when does the first admissions board meet in the fall so I know when I should try and get my whole application in by so I have the highest chance?

The goal isn't to be the first person to get your application in thinking that that will give you the best chance at success. The best advice I have seen and now give to you is to submit the best application you can produce as early as you can. If your goal is to try to get your application in quickly, contact your counselor now and let them know that you will be needing them to verify data for you over the summer. Start exercising and practicing the CFA. Make a decision if you will want your Math and English evaluations done by your Junior or Senior year teachers. Plan for these things and communicate to who you will need help from so you can get your Application done mostly during the summer. Good Luck!

You may not have noticed the posts in other threads about applicants who have been CPR - complete pending review - since last September, and are still waiting as of March.

Best advice as noted above - get your best application in as early as you can. The Admissions cycle is already starting to churn by late summer. There are multiple groups of people who review applications inside of Admissions; it’s both a concurrent and consecutive process.

I have done so already. I know which teachers to ask. I am going to try and finish everything that I can over summer which includes all except the evaluations, transcript, and CFA. If NASS happens, I will be able to do the CFA there and get it out of the way. If not, I can ask my pe teacher to administer it the very first week we get back to school, as well as get my transcript and ask my teachers for the evaluations as I go back to school mid August.

Small tidbit of advice for the CFA (you may already know): Run through the events with timing one or two time before you do NASS or take it at school. Knowing your enemy is a huge advantage. Make sure your pull-ups and sit-ups are strong as those are really easy ways to get points. Once again good luck (and stay healthy!)

It also helps if you search the SA forums before you post. Your question has been answered previously ad infinitum.

While you’re searching the forum re this topic, you’ll see numerous posts from candidates who were in such a rush to submit their application that they had critical errors or oversights or omissions. So then they were scrambling to amend the issue. Worth repeating the earlier advice: Submit the BEST application you can, as early as you can.

There is always discussion on this Forum about the first Admissions Board, and benefit of being early. However, even if you submit your complete package in June, there is no guarantee that you will be looked at the first Board meeting (or the 2nd, 3rd, etc). Further, Admissions Board review is only part of the equation -- an early Admissions Board look may lead to an LOA if you are an exceptional candidate, but for most of the applicants, there real funnel and selection doesn't occur until after January 31, when Nominations and all Applications are in, and Noms/Appointments determine who wins the MOC slate. (That process is still going on now..thats why we have so many CPR waiting to hear their fate, even when they submitted their application last summer).

There are a few good reasons to get your application in early -- 1) It shows Interest and Motivation and 2) It gets you ahead of the power curve on the DODMERB process. USNA will initiate the DODMERB physical when you are approximately 50% complete with application. Early initial review gives you more time to resolve any issues that are identified. (That said, if a waiver becomes necessary -- those are usually not reviewed /granted until late in the process).
