Would it be worth getting some sort of flight mileage membership from an airline as a midshipman?
I plan on flying to and from the academy over breaks.

There's no downside to joining. However, mileage programs are really only effective if you use the same airline most/all of the time and that may not always be the cheapest option.

So, if you're from a city dominated by one or two airlines, such that you're pretty much forced to fly them, joining their program really makes sense. If not -- again, no downside but maybe not a huge benefit either.

Most airline mile rewards programs are free, it depends on what the primary carrier is for your airport in choosing one.
