In my son's second letter home he mentions that the cadre are giving out "form 431's like candy". He says that he has not received one yet and that he is glad of it. What is that all about?

it's a form 341.... aka, "341". lol

just a little thing noting good or bad conduct. they get stuck in the very back of your cpr 2 (cadet personell record or something) and no one ever looks at them. some kids are known to get like a dozen in the span of a few minutes because of things piling on top of each other. they dont really mean much at all, unless you're getting kicked out or somethin. but either way, if this basic is like ours was, they dont mean anythin unless you get like a hundred of them. they're meant to intimidate the basics, because they dont know any better

It is documentation of good or bad conduct. It can be for little things or serious ones (usually little things). They are completely useless unless someone is trying to kick out a basic. If a form 34 is initiated (to kick them out), a quantity of 341s becomes a primary form of evidence.

Thanks guys! Now I can stop worrying that he might get one of them and be denied Doolie Day Out or Parents Weekend!

I swear, this whole thing has to be harder on the parents then the basics.

Sort of.

Okay, now I've had some time to think about this...and I would like to have a few examples of what would get you one of these infamous forms....

Hey, this is what happens when you are up half the night with a magnifying glass looking at Webguy photos.

anything from an improper reporting statement to giving a cadre attitude. They could be for trivial things or serious. lol

also, if you recieve a certain number for the same general category (militray, conduct, or athletic) it places you on Commander's Awareness Program (CAP). basically this means you get special attention to see whether or not you improve. if you don't, then it's the first step in a series of events leading to dismissal.

while getting some doesn't mean you're in huge trouble, too many are definetely a problem. several of my basics are under the scope as a result of 341's being pulled for the same general things (not standing at proper attention, giving reporting statements, general lack of military bearing)

I think I got 3-5 in BCT.
Whereas the "problem children" usually wind up with 5-10 daily. Those are the ones that likely won't last.
